Full Job Description Position Overview:

We are looking for a motivated and detail‑oriented individual to join our Service Department as a Marine Technician. In this dynamic role, you will diagnose, repair, refurbish, and maintain various boats and marine engines, ensuring customers receive top‑tier service. These refurbishment duties not only support resale readiness and warranty requirements but also help extend the longevity and performance of customer vessels. Your hands‑on expertise will be crucial in delivering high‑quality workmanship, while your ability to manage time effectively will help meet both individual and team efficiency goals. Perform installs, repairs, maintenance, and refurbishment on boats, including outboard, sterndrive, and inboard engines, as well as other vessel components. Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and cosmetic issues using technical expertise to support both repair and refurbishment needs. Collaborate with supervisors to address installation, repair, and refurbishment challenges; establish workflows; and estimate timeframes for both service and cosmetic restoration tasks. Review repair orders and vessel specifications to determine the scope of work and recommend necessary repairs, modifications, or refurbishment actions to improve overall vessel condition. Conduct safety inspections and utilize service histories to inform customers of required or recommended maintenance. Apply bottom paint or antifouling paint to boat hulls and occasionally paint cowlings as needed. Perform light refurbishment work on boats, applicable to select dealership locations only. Track time and labor for each repair order, ensuring adherence to efficiency goals and minimizing non-billable tasks. Ensure boats are tidied up after service work, including wiping handprints and other marks, before returning them to the customer. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment, adhering to safety protocols at all times. Occasionally step in to support other roles, including moving boats in the absence of a Lot Crew and assisting with service administration or parts-related tasks when necessary. Participate in company-required training sessions, meetings, and communications via email and Microsoft Teams. Assist with occasional onsite and offsite promotional events and boat shows, including setup and breakdown as needed. Any additional duties assigned for success. Diversity of thought and experiences is fundamental when imagining the unimaginable. Certain skillsets/experiences are necessary; however, others can be developed along the way.Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Prior experience in mechanical or technical trade (e.g., automotive, powersports, A/C, telecommunications, etc.). Willingness to pursue industry certifications. Familiarity with tools and their uses; must provide personal basic-use mechanical tools and toolbox. Basic computer literacy. Ability to read and write professional summaries of completed work, including repair and refurbishment tasks. Commitment to safety standards. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities. Solid work ethic. Valid driver's license with a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) that meets company standards, along with a clear background check and drug screening.Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience as a Marine Technician. Manufacturer certifications (e.g., Mercury, Yamaha). Completion of postsecondary education, trade school, or certification in a technical field. Knowledge of boats and their operation.Travel Requirements:
This position does not typically require travel.Working Conditions:
Performs work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Operates boats, motorized vehicles, small handheld power tools, and other equipment. Moves up to 50 pounds and performs tasks requiring physical exertion. Adjust to various physical positions as needed to perform repair tasks, such as accessing items at ground level, working in limited spaces, or operating at elevated heights (less than one story). Performs tasks that require sustained focus and attention to detail. Works on activities requiring extended concentration. Completes repetitive or routine tasks while maintaining a high level of precision. Works safely near water and on docks. Ascends/ descends ladders to board/ depart vessels. The anticipated pay range for this position is $22.00- 24.
