Job Description

Job Summary Doug Russell Marine has been serving Boating Customers Worldwide since 1956.We specialize in sales, engine repowering, service, insurance repairs, and more. Our reputation is built on quality workmanship, technical expertise, and exceptional customer service. We are seeking a highly skilled Marine/Automotive Engine Rebuilder to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for restoring and rebuilding marine and automotive engines to optimal performance standards. Your expertise will ensure engines meet rigorous quality and safety benchmarks, delivering reliable power and efficiency for our clients. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with a variety of engine types, utilizing advanced tools and techniques to bring engines back to life with precision and care. Duties Disassemble, inspect, and clean engine components using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers Rebuild engines by accurately assembling parts following schematics, technical manuals, and engineering specifications Use electrical experience and schematics to troubleshoot and repair electrical systems within engines Perform heavy lifting tasks safely to handle large engine parts and assemblies during disassembly and reassembly processes Conduct fabrication, welding, soldering, and sheet metal work as needed for custom modifications or repairs Utilize rigging techniques to lift, position, and secure heavy engine components during rebuilds Test rebuilt engines using diagnostic tools like ohmmeters and other maintenance equipment to ensure proper operation before final inspection Maintain detailed records of work performed, including maintenance logs, inspection reports, and quality control documentation Provide excellent customer service by explaining repairs, answering questions, and ensuring client satisfaction with the rebuilt engines Skills Proven service technician experience with marine or automotive engines highly preferred Strong mechanical knowledge combined with hands-on experience in assembly, disassembly, and troubleshooting of complex machinery Ability to read and interpret schematics, technical manuals. Electrical experience including working with wiring diagrams, soldering, soldering equipment, and electrical diagnostics Skilled in fabrication techniques such as welding and sheet metal work for custom repairs or modifications Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, calipers, micrometers, heavy lifting equipment, and precision measuring instruments Experience with vehicle maintenance procedures and mechanical systems diagnostics Knowledge of rigging practices for lifting large engine components safely Familiarity with military standards or practices related to engine rebuilding is a plus Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining attention to detail during complex rebuilds Sales experience is a bonus for promoting services or parts when applicable Join our team if you're passionate about restoring powerful engines with precision craftsmanship!
