Once you push off, you navigate local waterways, scan the surface, and collect floating debris and pollutants to keep channels clear and communities safe. Throughout the shift, you log activities, watch for changes in water quality, and follow safety and environmental protocols. Back at the pier, you complete post-trip maintenance, update records, and share observations that improve tomorrow's plan. You also lend a hand in onboarding new teammates, showing them how to operate equipment safely and effectively. What you'll handle Operate and care for boat skimmers to remove debris and pollutants from area waterways. Track water conditions and promptly report environmental issues to management. Complete routine inspections and maintenance on skimming equipment. Work with the team to refine routes and skimming strategies for maximum impact. Document daily operations and maintain accurate activity logs. Follow safety regulations and environmental guidelines at all times. Assist with training new staff on equipment use and safety protocols. What you bring High school diploma or equivalent; related certifications are a plus. Hands-on experience operating boats or comparable marine equipment. Solid grasp of environmental regulations and waterway management practices. Comfort working both independently and collaboratively. Strong communication and problem-solving abilities. Physical stamina and readiness to work in a range of weather conditions. Valid boating license and knowledge of local waterways preferred.
