ABOUT THE ROLE
Royal Boat Detailing is a mobile marine detailing and restoration company serving the Rochester, NY area. We're looking for a motivated, detail-oriented team lead to run jobs in the field alongside a second technician. As a contractor, you'll earn a percentage of every completed job — the more quality work you put out, the more you make. This is a seasonal position running through October with potential for future seasons.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Lead two-person detailing crews on mobile job sites (marinas, driveways, storage facilities) Perform full-service boat detailing including washing, buffing, polishing, and paint correction Operate and care for professional polishing and detailing equipment Oversee the assistant technician — delegate tasks and maintain job quality and pace Communicate professionally with customers on-site and report job status to management Represent the Royal Boat Detailing brand with professionalism and pride
REQUIREMENTS
Must own or have reliable access to most detailing equipment (buffers, polishers, pads, chemicals) Reliable transportation to mobile job sites throughout the Rochester region Strong work ethic and ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditionsSelf-motivated and capable of managing a job from start to finish Available to work a flexible schedule throughout the boating season (through October)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Previous experience buffing, polishing, or detailing boats - marine experience strongly preferred Familiarity with marine paint correction and oxidation removal Experience supervising or mentoring other workers on the job Knowledge of detailing products and machine polishers (rotary and DA)
IMPORTANT NOTES
This is an independent contractor position. Pay is commission-based on completed jobs — not hourly. Contractors are responsible for their own taxes and insurance. Equipment ownership is a significant factor in candidate selection.
Pay:
$3,000.00 - $4,500.00 per month
