Job Description

Position Summary BMF's Production Manager is responsible for leading all trade operations and supervising trade managers, foremen, shop fabrication teams, and craft personnel. This role ensures daily execution aligns with schedule, budget, safety, and quality standards. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, the Production Manager drives performance, enforces compliance, and ensures work packages are production-ready. Key Responsibilities Production & Execution Direct trade leads, foremen, shop fabrication teams, and craft personnel Manage daily production goals, manpower allocation, and work sequencing Keep work on schedule and aligned with project milestones Track labor hours versus budget by work item or trade Drive daily production metrics and performance reporting Communicate delays, manpower needs, and production risks to leadership Provides Production's input into integrated schedules Leadership & Accountability Coach and develop trade managers and front-line supervisors Provide craft-level coaching, feedback, and motivation Hold trade leadership accountable for schedule, safety, and quality Escalate personnel matters appropriately Drive a culture of compliance, ownership, and execution Identify risks & opportunities as well as mitigation plans Document and implement lessons learned into production plans to increase efficiency Safety, Quality & Compliance Enforce WAFs, LOTO, confined space, and hot work requirements Partner with QA to foster a first-time SAT inspections culture Partner with Safety to prevent accidents and incidents Ensure materials, inspections, and prerequisites are ready ahead of scheduled work Interface with Planning and Engineering to confirm job readiness Qualifications 7+ years of leadership experience in ship repair, marine construction, or heavy industrial production Experience managing multiple trades and front-line supervisors Working knowledge of the
JFMM, NAVSEA
Standard Items, and other applicable Navy Standards Experienced with DDGs, LHAs, LHD, LPDs, and Carriers Strong knowledge of labor tracking, scheduling, and cost control Working knowledge of shipyard safety requirements Proven ability to drive production results in high-accountability environments Strong leadership presence and communication skills Working knowledge of scheduling software (MS Project, Primavera, P6, etc.) preferred. Must be able to obtain and maintain access to all area shipyards and bases. Shipyard Access Requirements Must be able to obtain and maintain access to all area shipyards Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid DBIDS badge Must meet all base access requirements, including background screening as required by installation policies Physical Requirements Must be able to access vessels, dry docks, piers, and industrial work sites Ability to climb ladders, navigate steep stairs, and access confined spaces Ability to walk and stand for extended periods Must be able to wear required PPE, including hard hat, safety glasses, respirator (as required), and fall protection equipment Ability to lift up to 40 pounds as needed Must be able to work in varying weather and shipyard conditions What We're Looking For A decisive, hands-on production leader Strong cost awareness and schedule discipline A coach who develops strong trade leadership beneath them Someone who understands that safety, quality, and schedule are equally critical
