Job Title:
Tire Technician
  • $20•22/hr•1st and 2nd shifts available!
Job Description The Tire Technician inspects, repairs, replaces, and services tires and wheel assemblies on fleet equipment, ensuring all tires, wheels, and related components meet company and DOT standards to support fleet safety and maximize equipment uptime. Responsibilities Inspect tires, wheels, and related components on fleet equipment to ensure they meet company and DOT safety standards. Repair, replace, and service tires and wheel assemblies on trailers and other fleet equipment. Perform scheduled basic preventive maintenance on trailers, including tire-related inspections and services. Install wheel assemblies and tires safely and correctly using appropriate tools and procedures. Identify irregular tire wear, underinflated tires, and other tire-related issues and take corrective action. Identify brake components and understand the operation of Class 8 air brake systems as part of overall inspection duties. Complete basic electrical repairs on trailers as needed. Diagnose and perform repairs on basic trailer tracking systems (RCOM). Assist with other basic trailer repairs as required to support fleet maintenance operations. Use hand tools and other equipment safely and effectively while following all safety policies. Troubleshoot mechanical issues related to tires, wheels, and associated systems. Maintain a clean and organized work area and properly document work performed. Collaborate with other maintenance and fleet personnel to ensure timely completion of repairs and maintenance tasks. Demonstrate self-motivation by proactively identifying maintenance needs and completing assigned work efficiently. Essential Skills Experience performing tire inspection, repair, replacement, and servicing on fleet or heavy equipment. Ability to identify brake components and understand the operation of Class 8 air brake systems. Ability to identify irregular tire wear and underinflated tires and determine appropriate corrective actions. Basic electrical repair skills for trailers and related systems. Ability to perform scheduled basic preventive maintenance on trailers. Ability to install wheel assemblies and tires safely and accurately. Ability to diagnose and perform repairs on basic trailer tracking systems (RCOM). Mechanical aptitude with exposure to diesel, hydraulics, pneumatics, brakes, and transmissions. Ability to read and follow basic schematics and blueprints related to maintenance tasks. Competence using hand tools and other maintenance equipment safely. Strong troubleshooting skills for mechanical and electrical issues. Self-motivated work style with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Willingness to learn and be trained on brake systems, tire wear identification, and basic electrical repairs. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience as a maintenance technician, fleet mechanic, or in fleet maintenance is beneficial. Experience working with diesel engines and industrial or heavy equipment is an advantage. Welding skills or previous welding experience are highly valued. Thermo King certification is encouraged and considered a plus. General labor experience in a mechanical or industrial environment is helpful. Familiarity with electrical troubleshooting on fleet or trailer equipment is advantageous. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role operates in a non-climate-controlled shop environment working on trailers and fleet equipment. Tire Technicians work on either a day shift from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. or an afternoon shift from 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., using hand tools and other maintenance equipment to service tires, wheels, brakes, and basic electrical and tracking systems. The work is hands-on and physically active, involving time in and around heavy equipment and trailers in an industrial setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Olathe, KS. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00
  • $22.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
