Tire Technician Job Summary:
An Automotive Tire Technician is responsible for inspecting, repairing, replacing, and maintaining tires on passenger vehicles, light trucks, and other equipment. This role involves providing excellent customer service while ensuring vehicles meet safety and performance standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Inspect tires for wear, damage, and proper inflation. Remove, install, rotate, and balance tires using specialized equipment. Repair punctured tires when safe and appropriate. Check and adjust tire pressure according to manufacturer specifications. Inspect wheels, rims, and related components for damage. Conduct basic vehicle safety inspections. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Follow all safety procedures and company policies. Assist customers by explaining tire conditions, recommendations, and services. Complete service records and work orders accurately. Assist with inventory management and stocking of tires and related supplies.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous automotive or tire service experience preferred but not always required. Ability to operate tire mounting, balancing, and shop equipment safely. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety. Good communication and customer service skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Valid driver's license required.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry up to 50-75 pounds regularly. Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work in various weather conditions. Manual dexterity to handle tools and equipment. Ability to work extended periods on feet.
Preferred Skills:
Knowledge of tire brands, specifications, and performance characteristics. Basic automotive maintenance knowledge. Experience with TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems).
