As a Full-Time Tire Technician, you will receive competitive compensation and a stellar benefits package while making a difference in your community. This role reports to the Fleet Maintenance Director. The Tire Technician is responsible for efficiently repairing and replacing fleet tires, performing fleet tire inspections, and performing road service calls, on buses, cutaway vans, support vehicles, trucks, trailers, and other motorized equipment. Position mounts/demounts tires; ensures conformance to industry standards; examines and repairs tires; performs preventative maintenance; and responds to emergency road calls. Position also inventories and requisitions supplies; and prepares paperwork while maintaining high industry standards.
Tire Technician Qualifications:
Must have proven work experience as a Tire Technician Must possess a valid driver's license and excellent driving record to meet insurance standards. Must possess satisfactory driving record meeting insurance standards. Must pass Department of Transportation (DOT) physical, back screen, drug screen, and complete a background check. Must possess stable and verifiable work history, with exceptional record of attendance and punctuality. Positive attitude and demonstrated excellence in customer service. Must have a high school diploma, GED or equivalent. Must be 21 years of age. Possess or have the ability to complete company provided Class B CDL training in 90 days. Must maintain Class B CDL with passenger endorsement at all times of employment. Must be able to safely operate tire equipment and tools. Must have a strong attention to detail. Must have extensive knowledge of tire patterns and material composition. Must be able to lift 75 lbs.
Tire Technician Essential Duties:
Maintain, repair, install and balance tires on METRO's fleet of cars, trucks, heavy duty buses, and other fleet vehicles. Inspect and assess tire tread levels, wear patterns, valve quality, and overall tire condition. Inspect flat or underinflated tires. Recommend and perform appropriate repair or replacement of tires. Change defective tires on vehicles, as needed. Responsible for ordering, tracking, and maintaining inventory of Metro's tires and wheels. Disassemble tires from wheels and reassemble tires and wheels. Ensure proper installation of new tires on rims. Adhere to manufacturer recommendations for inflation. Assist with unloading of new tire and wheel inventory; and loading of disposal tires and wheels. Use software to track tire locations both on vehicles and in inventory. Perform road service calls. Inventories and ensures and adequate supply of tires and related parts; and requisitions/orders supplies as necessary. Operates and maintains diagnostic equipment, hand/power tools, tire changing machines, balancing equipment, and other specialized automotive tools and machinery. Regular and predictable performance of essential job duties. Perform other related duties, as assigned.
