Job Description
Position Summary Responsible for inspecting, calibrating, maintaining, and repairing commercial truck and trailer tires. Ensures tire safety, proper inflation, and functionality of automatic tire inflation systems while accurately documenting inspections and communicating findings to supervisors and maintenance personnel. Key Responsibilities Perform tire pressure calibration on commercial trucks and trailers. Conduct visual inspections of tires and wheel assemblies to identify wear, damage, or irregular conditions. Complete tire inspection reports accurately using the designated inspection platform. Report tire damage, excessive wear, punctures, and other defects requiring corrective action. Detect and correct potential air leaks within the automatic tire inflation system. Calibrate and maintain automatic tire inflation systems. Install, update, and maintain physical tire inspection labels on equipment. Identify and prioritize equipment that has not received a tire inspection within the last 30 days. Install double-flow valve caps on equipment not equipped with an automatic tire inflation system. Perform tire removal, replacement, repair, and service as required. Maintain effective communication with supervisors and area mechanics regarding equipment conditions and repair needs. Follow all safety procedures and company policies. Work outdoors and in varying environmental and weather conditions. Education High School Diploma, GED, or Technical/Vocational Certification preferred. Skills & Abilities Ability to identify tire wear patterns, damage, and repair requirements. Basic computer skills and ability to use electronic inspection platforms. Ability to convert and interpret measurements, including inches, feet, millimeters, centimeters, and meters. Strong teamwork and communication skills. Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation. Commitment to workplace safety and professional ethics. Experience Previous experience with commercial truck and trailer tires preferred. Knowledge Requirements Basic knowledge of commercial tire types, wear patterns, damage assessment, and repair procedures. Familiarity with preventive maintenance practices for commercial fleets.
