Position Overview As a Cooling Tower Technician, you will play a key role in the construction, installation, repair, and retrofitting of industrial cooling towers. You will work with experienced crews at utilities and manufacturing facilities across the country, contributing directly to large-scale, essential infrastructure projects. This role requires individuals who can work independently, follow safety protocols, and take pride in producing quality work without constant supervision. Key Responsibilities Assist with the installation of mechanical equipment such as motors, fans, gearboxes, and drive shafts Select appropriate lumber and materials for assigned tasks Measure and prepare layouts using measuring tapes, framing squares, rulers, and calipers Cut, shape, and prepare materials using saws, chisels, grinders, and other hand tools Assemble materials accurately and efficiently Assist with piping and nozzle installation Erect framework while maintaining strict safety standards Perform work at heights while maintaining 100 percent tie-off compliance Lift up to 50 pounds and perform bending, climbing, and physical labor as required Work outdoors or in plant environments with exposure to weather, heat, and industrial noise Required Skills and Qualifications Experience using basic hand tools such as saws, drills, and wrenches General labor or construction experience Ability to work at heights and in outdoor environments Willingness to travel for extended periods Strong work ethic, reliability, and safety awareness Preferred Skills and Experience Previous experience with cooling towers Experience in HVAC or mechanical systems Ability to operate a power washer Completion of safety training such as fall protection, confined space, or OSHA courses (all required safety training is company-paid if not already completed) Work Schedule and Travel This position requires travel to job sites across multiple states. Projects typically last between one and four weeks, followed by an equivalent amount of time off. Clear communication regarding availability and scheduling needs is expected. This structure provides strong income opportunities while allowing meaningful time away from work between projects. Work Environment Technicians work on-site at utilities and manufacturing plants, performing cleaning, repair, and retrofit work on cooling towers. The role involves outdoor exposure and physically demanding tasks, with strict adherence to established safety procedures. The Bottom Line This is not a short-term labor position. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Phoenix, AZ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.
