Tower Technician Pay Range:
Approx. $22-$25 hourly, depending on experience, certifications, travel availability, and market conditions. The Tower Technician is an entry-level to early-career field role responsible for general tower construction, installation, maintenance, and inspection work under supervision. This position is ideal for individuals who are safety-conscious, physically capable, and interested in building technical field experience in wireless telecommunications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Climb towers and elevated structures to assist with installation, maintenance, and removal of antennas, radios, mounts, and cabling.
- Perform coax, fiber, grounding, and connector work in accordance with project requirements and quality standards.
- Assist with rigging, hoisting, weatherproofing, testing, and troubleshooting of wireless equipment.
- Maintain tools, PPE, and work areas in a safe and organized condition.
- Follow OSHA, company, and customer safety procedures at all times, including fall protection requirements.
Skills:
- Ability to work at heights and in varying weather conditions.
- Basic knowledge of hand tools, climbing gear, and construction practices.
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and willingness to learn.
- Effective communication and ability to work as part of a crew.
Qualifications:
- Prior tower, construction, or telecom experience is preferred but not required.
- Ability to pass drug screening, background check, and physical assessment.
- Valid driver's license preferred.
- Certifications such as OSHA 10/30, ComTrain, First Aid/CPR, or
NWSA TTT1
are a plus.
Lead Tech Pay Range:
Approx. $25-30 hourly, depending on experience, certifications, travel availability, and market conditions. The Lead Tech is a mid-level tower role and the second-in-command on the crew, supporting the Foreman in executing daily site activities. This position requires strong hands-on tower experience, the ability to lead by example, and the capability to direct technicians while maintaining safety, quality, and production standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead installation, maintenance, and modification activities on towers, rooftops, and other elevated structures.
- Support the Foreman with crew coordination, task delegation, and daily production goals.
- Train and mentor less experienced technicians in climbing, rigging, installation methods, and safety practices.
- Assist with testing and troubleshooting, including sweep, fiber, and PIM testing when required.
- Help complete site closeout documentation, photo records, and material/tool tracking.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of tower construction methods, antenna and line work, grounding, and equipment installation.
- Ability to read scopes of work, construction drawings, and site documentation.
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Competence with test equipment and field documentation processes is preferred.
Qualifications:
- 2-3+ years of tower construction or wireless telecom experience preferred.
- Current or obtainable certifications such as OSHA 10/30, ComTrain, RF Awareness, First Aid/CPR, and
NWSA TTT2
are preferred.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel as required.
- Ability to work overtime, lead field tasks, and maintain high safety and quality expectations.
Tower Foreman Pay Range:
Starting range $28 hourly, depending on experience, certifications, leadership background, travel availability, and market conditions. The Tower Foreman is a senior-level field leadership role responsible for the safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of tower projects. This position combines advanced technical tower expertise with daily planning, crew supervision, customer coordination, and accountability for site documentation and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and direct tower crews on new builds, upgrades, maintenance, and modification projects.
- Plan daily work, assign responsibilities, monitor production, and ensure compliance with project scope, quality standards, and timelines.
- Conduct job hazard analyses, safety meetings, equipment inspections, and enforce all safety policies and procedures.
- Perform or oversee advanced installation work including antennas, mounts, RRUs, coax, fiber, grounding, rigging, and troubleshooting.
- Communicate with project managers, customers, and crew members regarding job progress, materials, and field issues.
- Complete or review closeout packages, timesheets, JSAs, photo documentation, and test results.
Skills:
- Advanced understanding of tower construction, rigging, carrier standards, and wireless equipment installation.
- Strong leadership, crew management, and conflict-resolution abilities.
- Ability to read RFDS, scopes of work, construction drawings, and customer specifications.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and decision-making skills in field environments.
Qualifications:
- 3-5+ years of tower construction or wireless telecom experience with proven crew leadership.
- Strong working knowledge of site safety, rigging, installation methods, and customer standards.
- Current or obtainable certifications such as OSHA 10/30, First Aid/CPR, RF Awareness, ComTrain, and NWSA Foreman certification are preferred.
- Ability to inspect PPE, tools, and equipment and maintain required site records and closeout documentation.
