Job Summary - Laborer

• ICS has an immediate opening for qualified Laborers to perform general field labor tasks in a construction environment, as necessary to support the field staff on the projects. Must be flexible and willing to work overtime as needed. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include , but are not limited to the following:
• Maintains dust control by watering the stockpile and the truck routes
• Directs traffic to ensure the traffic is using the proper route and to ensure safety
• Spots the Operators to ensure nobody is behind the work zone
• Identifies utilities by digging "potholing" the surrounding area
• Operates hand-held construction equipment (i.e., shovel, digging bar, etc.)
• Observes safe work practices
• Ensures trash, debris, and other items are picked up on the job site
• Secures the excavation area from a safety standpoint
• Responsible for installing and maintaining SWPPP (erosion control) measures
• Maintains consistent communication among crew members
• Maintains an accurate Truck Log during hauling activities
• Excavation, backfill, compaction, and grading work using small power equipment
• Work in and around trenches - installation of hydraulic shoring, and placement of bedding, piping, and backfill
• All other duties as assigned by the

Superintendent Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• A positive attitude and willingness to take direction.

• Understanding proper safety procedures and recognizing hazards
• Must be a team player and create a positive environment
• Must be a self-starter and a go-getter
• Must be flexible and willing to work overtime as needed, including weekends

Education/Training:

• High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
• Experience required, Minimum 1 year, entry-level
• 40-Hr HAZWOPER or current 8-Hr

HAZWOPER

Refresher Certification

• Construction industry experience, preferred
• Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation Physical Demands while performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.

The employee is required to sit for long periods of time. The employee is required to use hands and fingers, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required for this job include vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs. without aid.
