Valid Driver's License Position Summary The Traffic Control Flagger, also known as a Protector, works as part of a team to help maintain safe work zones for roadway construction and maintenance projects. In this entry-level position, you will help direct traffic, set up traffic control equipment, and remain alert to jobsite activity to protect workers, motorists, and pedestrians. No prior traffic control experience or degree is required. Training and support are provided to help qualified applicants build a career in traffic control and roadway safety. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Set up cones, signs, barricades, and other traffic control equipment at assigned jobsites. Remove traffic control devices at the completion of daily work assignments. Use a stop/slow paddle to safely guide vehicles through active work zones. Observe traffic patterns and jobsite activity to help maintain a safe environment. Follow all safety procedures provided during training and on the jobsite. Communicate clearly and professionally with crew members and supervisors. Help keep vehicles, tools, and traffic control equipment clean, safe, and properly maintained. Work outdoors year-round in varying weather conditions. Remain flexible regarding changing work schedules based on project needs. Work nights, weekends, overtime, or emergency assignments when required. Minimum Qualifications Possess a valid driver's license. Able to stand and walk for extended periods, which may include 8- to 12-hour shifts. Able to lift and carry approximately 40 to 50 pounds. Willing to work outdoors in changing weather conditions and around moving traffic. Dependable, punctual, and available for a flexible work schedule. Remain alert and follow safety procedures at all times. Treat coworkers, clients, motorists, and the public with professionalism and respect. Successfully complete required pre-employment screening, including a drug test, as this is a safety-sensitive position. Training and Safety Equipment Paid training is provided, along with the opportunity to earn a traffic safety certificate. The company provides required safety equipment, including: Hard hat Safety goggles Safety vest Safety whistle Walkie-talkie Cold- and hot-weather safety gear Employees are responsible for providing their own steel-toe safety boots that extend above the ankle .
