PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Tower Operator ensures the safe, efficient, and timely movement of trains by executing operational directives under the supervision of the Train Dispatcher.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES
Dispatches train and engineering movements safely and efficiently Issues track authorities for train movement and engineering personnel protection Delivers Track Bulletins to ensure safety and compliance Records operational data as required by company and federal regulations Reports train delays and operational issues to the Train Dispatcher Facilitates prompt car movement and reports delays Assists in investigations of train accidents and personal injuries Adheres to all rules, procedures, and the Transportation Health and Safety Plan Communicates effectively with personnel at all organizational levels
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
High School Graduation or General Equivalency 1-3 years of experience in transportation or train operations preferred Working knowledge of General Code of Operating Rules, timetables, operations manuals, and notices Previous experience as a Tower Operator or in a similar role would be an asset Strong communication, analytical, and decision-making skills Proficiency in computer systems and ability to learn train control applications Willingness to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays Color vision required

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
Medical and Drug Testing This is a safety critical position and a successful pre-employment medical assessment including physical, vision, hearing, and a negative company or regulated drug test is required.
