Job Description

Role Summary We are seeking a skilled Railcar Repairman to join our Carterville, IL, 62918 location. You will be instrumental in maintaining the operational integrity and safety of our railcar fleet, making this an ideal opportunity for those who enjoy technical, hands-on challenges and take pride in precise workmanship. Core Duties Conduct thorough assessments and fix various railcars to guarantee adherence to all safety standards. Identify mechanical malfunctions and implement effective solutions to resolve them. Operate a variety of manual and electric tools to complete necessary maintenance and restoration work. Keep precise documentation regarding all maintenance activities and inspections completed on the fleet. Work alongside colleagues to refine repair workflows and boost the productivity of the shop. Help maintain a safe working environment for the entire team by strictly following all established safety procedures. Engage in continuous professional development to ensure your skills align with current industry benchmarks. Required Qualifications Completion of secondary education or a GED; specialized mechanical training is considered an advantage. Demonstrated history of working in railcar maintenance or a comparable mechanical trade. Robust mechanical reasoning and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues. Capacity to function effectively both as an individual contributor and as a collaborative team member. Solid understanding of safety standards and operational best practices within a maintenance facility. Flexibility regarding scheduling, including the availability to work extra hours when required.
