This position is full-time with benefits including health insurance, life insurance, vacation, sick time, paid holidays, and retirement benefits. This position performs skilled work of a technical nature providing field services in the operation of the City's Road Department. This position participates in the operation, maintenance, and construction activities of: road and bridge, stormwater, parks, building/facilities, and other similar functions. Responsibilities Operate heavy equipment such as loaders, backhoes, graders, dump trucks, and plow trucks to perform road repairs, snow removal, grading, and maintenance tasks. Conduct construction activities on roadways, including ditching and surface repairs to ensure durability and safety. Maintain and repair road surfaces by performing grading, patching, and other necessary tasks using appropriate machinery. Support construction site activities by setting up barriers, signage, and safety measures to protect workers and the public. Perform routine inspections of equipment and work sites to ensure safety standards are met and work progresses efficiently. Collaborate with team members to complete projects on time while adhering to safety protocols. Skills Proven experience operating heavy equipment such as loaders, backhoes, graders, dump trucks, and plow trucks. Strong knowledge of construction processes related to roadway maintenance. Familiarity with construction site safety procedures and best practices. Skilled in operating Caterpillar machinery or similar heavy equipment brands. Experience working on construction sites with a focus on road repair or infrastructure projects. Excellent teamwork skills with the ability to follow detailed instructions and safety guidelines.
