We are looking for alert, safety-minded Flaggers to manage traffic flow, protect our field crews, and ensure the safe passage of motorists through our work zones. Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and vigilant Traffic Control Flagger to ensure the safety and smooth flow of traffic around construction sites and civil infrastructure projects. In this vital role, you will direct vehicle and pedestrian traffic, maintain safety protocols, and support construction crews in high-traffic environments. Your proactive approach will help prevent accidents, facilitate efficient work operations, and uphold safety standards on construction projects. This position offers an engaging opportunity to contribute to large-scale infrastructure development while working in a dynamic construction setting.
Role Responsibilities Traffic Direction:
Safely and effectively control the movement of vehicular traffic through work zones using standard "
STOP/SLOW
" paddles, hand signals, and radio communication.
Crew Protection:
Maintain a constant, vigilant focus on the safety of the construction crew, motorists, and pedestrians in the vicinity of the work zone.
Equipment Assistance:
Assist the Work Zone Installer and Supervisor with the setup, maintenance, and removal of advance warning signs, channelizing devices (cones/drums), and other temporary traffic control equipment.
Site Awareness:
Continuously monitor your surroundings, maintain a safe escape route at all times, and immediately report any safety hazards or aggressive drivers to the site supervisor.
Professionalism:
Represent the company professionally while interacting with the traveling public under potentially stressful roadway conditions. Communicate clearly with drivers, pedestrians, and construction personnel to provide directions and ensure compliance with safety regulations Monitor traffic flow continuously, adjusting control measures as needed to accommodate changing site conditions Follow all safety procedures in accordance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and company policies Assist with the setup of temporary traffic signals or flagging stations at various points on active construction sites Report any unsafe conditions or incidents immediately to site supervisors for prompt resolution Experience Prior experience working on construction sites or civil infrastructure projects is highly preferred Mechanical knowledge related to construction machinery and manual handling skills are beneficial Understanding of FMCSA regulations for safe transportation practices on highway maintenance projects Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and work effectively in physically demanding environments Proven track record of working in a fast-paced construction environment with a focus on safety and teamwork Required Qualifications To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the requirements below:
Physical Capability:
Ability to stand on your feet for extended periods (8-12 hour shifts) in all types of weather conditions and environments.
Safety Knowledge:
Strong understanding of basic temporary traffic control principles, safety protocols, and the proper use of high-visibility Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) per MUTCD standards.
Driver's License:
A valid driver's license and reliable transportation to commute to various, changing job sites. Join us in shaping the future of infrastructure!
