Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Pavement Marking Operator to join our Highway Striping Team, responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing pavement markings and traffic control devices on construction and maintenance projects. The role involves operating various types of equipment such as thermoplastic, epoxy striping, MMA, permanent tape, and other machinery like bobcats, skid loaders, and forklifts. You will be involved in transporting materials, setting up traffic control devices, performing maintenance on equipment, and ensuring precise and safe application of materials according to the plans and specifications. This position requires the ability to work outdoors in varying environmental conditions, including extreme weather, and may require overnight travel. You will work in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) and quality guidelines while adhering to all company safety policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
Safely load and unload materials and traffic control equipment according to department standards. Set up and maintain traffic control devices, ensuring traffic moves safely through work zones. Perform temporary and permanent striping using various materials such as thermoplastic and waterborne paint Interpret blueprints and traffic control plans and ensure proper placement of equipment. Operate and maintain company vehicles and construction equipment such as thermoplastic trucks, paint trucks, and hand machines. Assist in routine maintenance of vehicles and equipment, reporting any safety concerns. Lift, move, and handle materials weighing between 25-75 pounds frequently, with occasional lifting of heavier materials. Work cooperatively with the team to meet production goals while ensuring safety and quality standards. Maintain accurate job logs and documentation. Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and maintain safety equipment and uniforms as required for each job.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous experience in traffic control, highway construction, or related field is a plus Valid driver's license required, and ability to obtain a Class B CDL within 12 months of employment. Strong work ethic, mechanical aptitude, and experience working with equipment and hand tools. Ability to work in outdoor conditions, including exposure to traffic, extreme weather, and various environmental factors. Must pass background checks, driving record review, and drug/alcohol testing. Physical Requirements:
Ability to regularly lift and move up to 25-75 pounds. Ability to work outdoors for long periods, with physical tasks such as bending, kneeling, and reaching overhead. Flexibility to work varying shifts, including nights, weekends, and possible overtime.
