for the positions within the Track Department of the Rail District’s Power & Way Section. The position of Track Maintainer 452 is responsible for the seasonal maintenance of tracks and surrounding areas. Detailed Description Duties Maintains, renews and repairs railroad tracks by using a variety of hand and power tools. Operates heavy rail equipment. Inspects entire length of track and reports problems to supervisor. Performs seasonal maintenance of tracks and surrounding areas. Fills in for flagging duties when needed and performs other duties of a similar nature as required. (The candidate in this position can be assigned to any one or more major work behaviors, and can be assigned at any time as needed). Practices safety precautions and measures at all times. Works overtime as necessitated by operational needs. This position will promote a safe and secure atmosphere, follow all safety and security rules and perform other duties as assigned. Job Requirements Minimum Requirements Applicants must have completed technical high school courses or post-high school courses in electrical theory and/or basic electronics to enable testing and repairing of electronic rail signal equipment. Applicants must also have a valid Ohio driver's license with no more than four (4) points in the last three (3) years.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and stand for prolonged periods of time. The employee is frequently required to bend, stoop, climb, reach with hands and arms, handle or feel, see with normal visual acuity, talk, speak and hear. The employee is occasionally required to lift, push, and pull materials up to 50 lbs. The employee may occasionally be required to monitor a video display terminal.
Mental Demands:
Reading, watching, studying, observing, focused listening. Concentrated attention to detail for prolonged periods of time. Inspecting, tabulating and proofreading data.
Additional Information:
The performance of these duties may be required at any time of the day or night, any day and night of the week. The position is a bargaining unit position. The position is also safety sensitive and subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
Examination Information:
Candidates selected to participate in the hiring process will be notified of the exact time and place of the examination. The examination process will consist of three parts: a written examination, performance assessment, and record evaluation (for internal candidates only). Candidates must attain a minimum composite score of 70% to move forward in the process. Weights for a final score will be assigned as follows for external candidates : Written Examination 30%, Performance Assessment 70%. Weights for a final score will be assigned as follows for internal candidates : Written Examination 30%, Performance Assessment 55%, Record Evaluation 15%. Internal candidates must meet all record evaluation criteria to gain the 15% weight.
