Job Description

About us Ohio Freight Car Services, LLC. is a railcar repair company located in Massillon, OH. The company services industry, railroads, and leasing companies, performing mechanical and fabrication work, to maintain and repair railcars in compliance with FRA and AAR standards. The business provides customized solutions for each customer's needs, getting them back on track, on time. The Ohio Freight Car Services LLC. Carman inspects, repairs, and restores railcars using heavy and light repair equipment in accordance with FRA and AAR requirements. All work is performed in an outdoor environment, year-round. Duties and Responsibilities Perform railcar inspections, identifying and troubleshooting railcar mechanical issues, ensuring FRA and AAR compliance. Fabricate steel parts to repair/restore railcars Test and inspect welded surfaces and structures to discover flaws Use torches, grinders, and tools to remove and replace broken or damaged railcar parts Complete billing repair cards Operate light and heavy machinery, including air jacks, cranes, loaders, and skid steers, to safely complete tasks Perform railcar air brake tests Complete other miscellaneous tasks supporting company operations Qualifications 2G, 3G & 4G SMAW preferred
Other Requirements:
  • Must have two years of SMAW welding experience
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
  • Must have experience using a cutting torch
  • Must have a general knowledge of safety standards and a willingness to wear proper personal protective equipment
  • Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Must be insurable to drive a commercial vehicle
  • Must be able to lift 60 pounds up to 10 times a day
  • Must be able to manage time to perform multiple tasks in a given time period
  • Must be available to work occasional overtime
  • Must be able to safely climb ladders multiple times a day
  • Must be comfortable working at heights up to 20 feet

  • Previous experience driving/operating large equipment
