Road Worker

Salary:

starting salary $20.00 per hour - depending on q ualifications .

Summary Description:

Build and maintain county roads by safe and efficient operation of equipment including dump truck, loader, tractor, and hauling road materials for activities such as patching roads and installing culverts. This position reports to the foreman and does not have supervisory responsibility.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Performs general road and bridge maintenance; repairs potholes' replaces signs; shovels and spreads various materials Follow the plan or specification as provided by Foreman for the job being performed Operate heavy equipment safely, efficiently, and effectively Take care of the environment and surroundings while operating equipment Report to work as scheduled Meet established work deadlines Self- Motivated, Positive Attitude Cuts or trims tree limbs using chainsaw Removes debris (concrete, rocks, tree limbs, trash) from roadway Sands roads during inclement weather situations Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements:

Must have and maintain a Class B or Class A Commercial Driver's License Ability to pass a background check and DOT Drug Screen - continuously subject to random drug and/or alcohol testing per DOT guidelines

Work Experiences:

Experience operating backhoe, excavator, chainsaw, or similar equipment preferred

Working Conditions:

Position works both in a shop and outside. Position has daily exposure to varying temperature ranges and seasonal fluctuations in weather conditions, and occasional exposure to noise, vibration and physical hazards. Health and safety hazards are minimal. Safety glasses, steel toe boots, gloves and ear plugs are recommended. Climbing, lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds, reaching, standing, sitting, walking, pushing, pulling, foot controls, balancing, bending, crouching, twisting, hearing and talking are frequently required.
