Job Description

Overview The Plant Maintenance Repairman is a non-skilled position responsible for performing a variety of duties for the inside and outside of buildings and maintenance on the grounds of the hospital. Special Instructions none Responsibilities Completes sections of service requests, work requests, and/or project forms, as directed. Assists workmen at work site; transports materials and tools to and from work site. (This does not include performing the duties of the crafts.) Inspects vehicles, reports conditions and arranges for repairs and maintenance as required. Performs first echelon of maintenance to vehicles, such as, cleaning interior and exterior, waxing, checking and adding oil, gas, water and air, and other similar items. May load and unload vehicles. Performs grounds maintenance, etc., mowing, edging, trimming, plant fertilizing of grass/lawns, trees and planting beds. Maintains walks, steps, parking surfaces, and roadways in a clean and safe condition. Performs tasks such as relamping, erecting parking lot signs, painting or marking parking surfaces. Cleans and lubricates maintenance tools and equipment after use; performs general maintenance as required. Maintains all tools and equipment used on grounds. Stores tools and/or supplies in their assigned location. May assist with the duties in other maintenance classifications. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications High School graduate or GED equivalent. Must possess a valid vehicle operator's license and drive vehicles as required. Must be able to operate all lawn and garden equipment. Three (3) months on-the-job training would be required to attain proficiency of performance of assigned duties and responsibilities.
