Lineman (Apprentice 4th year to Journeyman)

Entergy Texas, Inc.-GTX This position may be filled as an Apprentice 4th Year or Journeyman Lineman based on the selected candidate's qualifications and experience. This role requires a rotating shift schedule and availability for overtime, weekends, storm restoration, and emergency response assignments. Selected candidates must live within 60 minutes of the assigned work location. Position Summary The Lineman performs construction, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and operation of electric transmission and distribution systems supporting overhead transmission lines ranging from 69kV-500kV. Key Responsibilities Construct, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair transmission and distribution systems Perform hot sticking, switching, and EPZ grounding on energized lines Install, connect, and disconnect electric services and related equipment Operate company vehicles and equipment including bucket trucks, cranes, and digger derricks Climb poles and work at elevated heights Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, job sketches, and system prints Inspect, test, and maintain transformers, relays, regulators, reclosers, and related equipment Respond to outages and participate in on-call rotation Maintain company equipment and follow all safety procedures Provide professional and courteous customer service Minimum Requirements Education High School Diploma or equivalent General Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to work safely and perform physically demanding work in all weather conditions Ability to climb poles and work at elevated heights Ability to operate line tools, trucks, and heavy equipment safely Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and system prints Ability to work overtime, irregular schedules, and emergency restoration assignments Strong communication and teamwork skills Commitment to safety and customer service Apprentice 4th Year Qualifications Experience Minimum 4 years of related line experience Licenses & Certifications Valid Class A CDL or ability to obtain within 6 months Successful completion of
EEI CAST
testing Journeyman Lineman Qualifications Experience Minimum 5 years of journeyman-level transmission/distribution line experience or equivalent Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Thorough knowledge of transmission and distribution systems Ability to independently troubleshoot and repair complex electrical issues Proficient in hot sticking, switching, and grounding procedures Ability to lead crews and coordinate work safely and efficiently Strong knowledge of relays, transformers, regulators, reclosers, and electrical safety procedures Licenses & Certifications Valid Class A CDL required Successful completion of
