This system supports safer workplaces, improved efficiency, sustainability, and the reduction of incidents. Position Overview We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Lineman Technical Trainer / Subject Matter Expert (SME) to lead the development and delivery of electrical line worker training programs. This role combines journeyman-level field expertise with technical instruction, mentoring, and program development to ensure a safe, skilled, and high-performing workforce. This position plays a critical role in advancing employee capability, supporting apprenticeship programs, and ensuring compliance with MSHA, OSHA, and industry electrical safety standards. Key Responsibilities Training & Workforce Development Design, develop, and deliver structured training programs for linemen and apprentices (classroom and field). Conduct hands-on instruction in pole climbing, equipment operation, rigging, and electrical troubleshooting. Evaluate trainee performance through written, practical, and field assessments. Develop and maintain apprenticeship progression plans, step testing, and certification tracking. Provide coaching, mentoring, and technical support to crews and supervisors. Technical Leadership (SME Role) Serve as a subject matter expert in overhead/underground distribution, substations, and power systems. Troubleshoot complex electrical system issues and provide advanced technical guidance. Support development of standard work procedures, training materials, and best practices. Assist engineering, maintenance, and operations teams with system improvements and reliability initiatives. Field Operations & Skills Validation Demonstrate and verify competency in core lineman functions: Line construction and maintenance (poles, conductors, transformers) Operation of bucket trucks, digger derricks, and heavy equipment Switching, grounding, and protective practices Observe crews in the field and provide real-time coaching and performance feedback. Safety & Compliance Lead and reinforce a zero-harm safety culture through training and field engagement. Ensure all training aligns with
OSHA, MSHA, NFPA
70E, and company safety standards.
Deliver instruction on:
Electrical hazard awareness Arc flash protection Lockout/Tagout procedures PPE and safe work practices Participate in audits, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives. Program Administration Maintain training records, certifications, and compliance documentation. Coordinate training schedules with operations, maintenance, and leadership teams. Update curriculum to reflect new technologies, regulations, and equipment.
Requirements:
Education & Experience High School Diploma or GED required Journeyman Lineman certification or equivalent experience Minimum 5-7 years of electrical linework experience (distribution, transmission, or mining environment preferred) Prior training, mentoring, or crew leadership experience highly preferred MSHA certification (or ability to obtain) Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Advanced knowledge of electrical power systems, substations, and distribution networks Strong ability to teach technical concepts and hands-on skills effectively Expertise in troubleshooting electrical faults and system failures Excellent communication, coaching, and leadership ability Strong understanding of safety regulations and compliance standards Ability to develop curriculum, lesson plans, and evaluation methods Additional Requirements Valid driver's license (CDL preferred) Ability to climb poles, work at heights, and perform physically demanding tasks Willingness to work in outdoor and industrial environments Availability for occasional overtime or emergency response Key Responsibilities Safety, Environmental & Risk Management Champion a zero‑harm safety culture aligned with ASARCO's OIS and

standards. Ensure compliance with
MSHA/OSHA
regulations and
ISO 14001
environmental requirements. Apply risk‑based thinking to plan and execute maintenance activities. Participate/Conduct daily safety meetings, hazard assessments, and job‑specific risk evaluations. Enforce proper PPE use and lockout/tagout practices.
