Job Description

General Summary This classification is responsible for supervisory work directing the work of a group of journeymen linemen, linemen, and other workmen engaged in construction, maintenance and repair of all overhead power transmission, distribution, and communications lines. The work is performed in accordance with KSI's and customer's policies. Supervises the activities of overhead electric power lines construction and maintains safety and line equipment for overhead crews. Makes field inspections of proposed overhead line construction recommending changes in plans and/or material when conditions seem to warrant. Prepares outlines of scheduled line work and issues work orders and instructions to line crews. Attends safety meetings and arranges for monthly inspections of line equipment and hot tools. Performs related work as required. Extensive knowledge of and familiarity with the practices, methods, materials, equipment, and tools used in overhead power line construction, maintenance and repair.

Must have a reasonable knowledge of electrical theory, G.O. 95, and the NESC. Ability to maintain good public relations. Ability to exercise initiative and good judgment in solving problems and maintain physical condition required for job tasks. Must be able to perform or assist with estimating powerline projects. Essential Job Functions Regular and reliable attendance. P repared and on time for scheduled shift with proper PPE. Responsible for ensuring shift validations for crews are completed daily. Facilitate morning safety tailgate meeting, communicate safety topic and management concerns with crews as required. Be aware of the dangers associated with hazardous atmospheres and mitigate hazards associated with accessing job site and transportation clearances. Be actively involved in all KSI and Customer safety processes. Will be required to perform supervisory/project management duties like timekeeping, generating jobs and phases for billing, performing safety / QC audits, etc. Develop knowledge of KSI PPM-SOPs and refer to the SOP prior to each task. Follow all KS Industries, LP safety, and customer policies and procedures. Shall perform all physical and mental requirements listed. Assist with estimating and job preparation including ordering of materials. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to communicate with employees and various business partners in a professional and courteous manner Ability to comprehend and communicate instructions in English General knowledge of the GO 95 and the NESC. General knowledge of the
NFPA 70E.
General knowledge of 12kv and below overhead electrical systems. Be able to troubleshoot as necessary. Reclosures, transformers, and substation distribution. Ability to comprehend and communicate instructions in English Ability to communicate with employees and various business partners in a professional and courteous manner. Knowledge of technology (iPads, cellphones etc.) Demonstrate ability to perform Stop Work Authority (SWA) when needed. Ability to complete training and testing for KSI and Customer safety processes. Ability to demonstrate knowledge of industry specific safety standards. Knowledge of local electrical codes. Ability to read overhead electrical drawings and written reference material. Ability to perform mathematical calculations. Education and Experience Minimum 8 years of industry experience.
Working Conditions:
The locations vary from site to site. Work is physically demanding and requires the ability to concentrate well on the job at hand, in all types of weather. Majority of the work is construction-based work. Walking and working surface vary depending on the terrain, from flat to extreme slopes and frozen, wet, snowy and slippery conditions.
Working Hours:
Normally, a full-time employee will work 40 hours per week, depending on the factors such as weather and schedules. Work schedules and hours may vary depending on specific client locations and projects. In general, applicable work schedules include 5-8's and 4-10's. All labor laws in reference to rest breaks and meal periods will be followed.
