High school diploma or GED DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations Non-CDL Class C Manual transmission Full Job Description Telecommunications Field Technician We are seeking a Telecommunications Field Technician to install, maintain, repair, and remove aerial and underground telecom infrastructure, including fiber optic and copper cable systems. This role supports construction, maintenance, and emergency restoration work while following company, customer, OSHA, DOT, and industry safety standards. Responsibilities Install, repair, maintain, reroute, and remove aerial and underground telecom facilities. Install and maintain service drops, terminals, pedestals, splice cases, closures, vaults, and related hardware. Perform strand placement, lashing, guying, grounding, bonding, and pole-line construction. Pull, place, and secure cable through conduits, trenches, ducts, manholes, handholes, and aerial pathways. Operate company vehicles, bucket trucks, trailers, winches, power reels, generators, compressors, and other equipment. Climb poles, ladders, and structures using proper PPE and approved safety methods. Work in confined spaces, manholes, vaults, tunnels, trenches, crawl spaces, and other restricted areas. Read and interpret prints, maps, construction drawings, cut sheets, and work orders. Perform utility locates and verify underground facilities before excavation. Test telecom facilities for continuity, signal quality, and serviceability. Complete job documentation, material usage reports, inspections, and as-built records. Respond to outages, storm response, emergency restoration, and after-hours call-outs as needed. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Telecom, utility, electrical, fiber optic, or outside plant experience preferred. Valid California Class C Driver License required at hire. Ability to obtain and maintain a California Class A CDL with manual transmission. Ability to identify color-coded wires, cables, markers, and utility locates. Ability to safely operate company vehicles, trailers, tools, and construction equipment. Must pass DOJ fingerprinting and ongoing criminal background screening. Must comply with DOT requirements, including random drug and alcohol testing for CDL positions. Physical Requirements Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 75 pounds. Ability to bend, kneel, squat, crawl, climb, reach, and work in tight or awkward spaces. Ability to climb poles and ladders and work from bucket trucks and elevated platforms. Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the workday. Preferred Certifications Class A Commercial Driver License OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Construction Certification First Aid/CPR Certification Confined Space Entry Certification Traffic Control / Flagger Certification FOA or equivalent telecommunications certification
