Job Description

Position Summary:
The Lineman safely performs all associated tasks associated with maintaining and building overhead and underground infrastructure with fiber optic and copper cable.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Troubleshoot and repair all distribution, transmission circuits, equipment, and handle all associated paperwork. Responsible for ensuring all assigned projects meet company design standards and work methods. Performs aerial cable installation procedures, including pole placement and anchors, Pole removal, transfers, and proper framing techniques. Ability to climb utility poles at various heights. Projects may require extended work hours or working in inclement weather. May work alone or as part of a crew supervising a lower classification such as a laborer, apprentice, or helper. Heavy lifting will be required; must have the ability to lift and manipulate lasher and other cable placement equipment. Ensures safe jobsite setup to include using signage, cones, safety barriers; flagging traffic when required. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Success Factors/job competencies:
Experience in the following tasks: new cable installs, Pole Transfers, Strand Building, Cable Hanging, Lashing Over, Wreck Outs, and Make Readies. Ability to climb wooded utility poles and perform line work off hooks. Proficient in bucket truck operation. Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods, often under adverse climate conditions. Proven ability to analyze job locations for utility lines, permitting, and traffic control in order to complete construction activities without quality defects, safety incidents, or any type of property damage. Proficient in completing daily inspections and reporting of maintenance issues on vehicles, trailers, and equipment. Must maintain a professional working attitude with internal team members and external customers, clients, and vendors. Qualifications required: High School Diploma and/or equivalent. Valid Driver Licenses, Class A CDL preferred with the ability to obtain in the first 90 days of employment. 1+ years of lineman experience in the telecommunication industry required. 2+ years of telecommunication aerial construction experience preferred.
Working Conditions/Environment:
This position operates in a field environment. This role routinely requires the ability to work in a variety of physical positions, including sitting, standing, walking, bending, squatting, lifting, twisting, pushing, pulling, and kneeling. The physical demands described in this job description represent those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. This position is labor intensive, with lifting required. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Regular exposure to all weather conditions, especially hot, humid and/or rainy spring, summer, and fall weather. Assume responsibility for work outcomes and results of other workers. May be exposed to uncomfortable or distracting sounds or noise levels on sites of projects being managed or coordinated. When working onsite, will be required to wear common protective safety equipment, such as safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, hard hats, and safety vest.
