Job Description

Line Worker (Adjunct Instructor) Central Louisiana Technical Community College (CLTCC) serves the communities of Central Louisiana through five campuses—Alexandria Main Campus, Huey P. Long Campus (Winnfield), Ferriday Campus, Rod Brady Campus (Jena), and Ward H. Nash Avoyelles Campus (Cottonport)—as well as multiple correctional instructional sites.
SUMMARY:
The adjunct instructor facilitates student learning and initiate and participates in efforts to consistently improve the level of student success. Adjunct instructor will be responsible for teaching classes in Power Lineman and report to the vice chancellor of workforce solutions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties of the Power Lineman Instructor include, but are not limited to: Ability to climb wood and steel structures up to 95 feet in height Ability to effectively train others in a classroom and field environment Knowledge applicable regulations applying to electrical linework such as OSHA,NCCER, and ability to research new/current regulations Ability to communicate verbally in a professional manner with colleagues, students, potential students, and alumni Basic computer experience Maintaining office hours for student consultations Preparing and providing course syllabi and instructional materials to students Evaluating and reviewing students' progress in attaining goals and objectives Keeping appropriate records of testing and grading, as per college standards Utilizing technology to access data, maintain records, generate reports, communicate with others and facilitate learning Maintaining student discipline through effective classroom management Attaining, maintaining and reviewing program certification requirements, as appropriate Fulfilling professional assignments in accordance with the CLTCC College calendar and contractual obligations Partner with Business and Industry to promote Power Lineman program
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated Ability to:
  • Coordinate multiple tasks/events on a daily basis.
  • Communicate verbally.
  • Direct prospective, current, and former students.
  • Alert the Campus Dean of any incidents or emergencies occurring on campus.
Skills:
  • Excellent written, oral presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent team-building skills to build trust with others in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Excellent organization, planning, and prioritization skills are essential.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma. Completed a Journeyman Level Power Lineman Technician program, certificate program, or On-The-Job training program. NCCER Core certification within the first 90 days. OSHA Certification within the first 90 days. Five years of experience as a Power Lineman Technician.
Additional Requirements:
A valid Louisiana Driver's License Proof of motor vehicle insurance In accordance with LCTCS Policy #6:036, a criminal history check will be conducted on all new hires. LCTCS participates in the federal E-Verify system for identification and employment eligibility purposes.
