Job Description
Utility Line Locator A Gas Utility locator's responsibilities include working hand in hand with supervisors, foremen, and other team members to locate gas facilities and other civil infrastructure. A successful locator will need to demonstrate strong ability to work on your own without supervision, strong decision making, and be safety minded. Responsibilities
- Use various approved locating methods to locate gas main and services
- Work independently to meet deadlines
- Ability to read plans, interpret, drawings and take measurements
- Sketching as-builts
- Perform tool and vehicle maintenance
- Train workers to promote career growth
- Follow company policies and procedures
- Demonstrate safe practices by leading by example
- Hand digging with shovel as needed
- Maintain positive working relationships internally and with external constituents
Education, Skills, Experience Needed:
- Prior experience in gas utility industry highly desired
- Commitment to doing quality work while putting safety first
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work with others
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently
- NGA Operator Qualifications highly desired
Requirements:
- Valid Driver's license
- Ability to pass and maintain Operator Qualifications as assigned
- Ability to pass pre- and post-employment DOT drug screenings
- Pre-employment medical fit-for-duty test; hold/obtain DOT medical card
- Ability to obtain satisfactory results of a background check
- Ability to Lift 50lbs independently
- Hand digging as required
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions
