The Locate Technician will be responsible for identifying and marking underground utility lines to ensure safe excavation and construction activities. Key Responsibilities Respond to locate requests and accurately identify underground utilities using maps, blueprints, and electronic locating equipment. Mark utility lines on job sites with paint, flags, or stakes according to industry standards and local regulations. Communicate effectively with contractors, utility companies, and customers to provide clear information about utility locations. Maintain detailed records of locate activities and report any discrepancies or hazards encountered during the process. Follow all safety protocols and comply with federal, state, and local regulations related to underground utility locating. Operate and maintain locating equipment and tools in good working condition. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in utility locating, construction, or related field preferred. Knowledge of underground utility systems and local utility codes. Ability to read and interpret maps, blueprints, and technical drawings. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and lift up to 50 lbs. Work Environment This position requires working outdoors on construction sites and in various weather conditions. The Locate Technician must be able to navigate uneven terrain and work safely around heavy equipment.
