In this vital role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing overhead and underground electrical distribution and transmission systems. Your expertise will ensure the safe and reliable delivery of electricity to communities, supporting essential infrastructure and services. Responsibilities Install, repair, and maintain high voltage and low voltage power lines using bucket trucks, cranes, rigging equipment, and climbing techniques. Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and construction plans to execute projects accurately. Perform cabling tasks on utility poles, underground conduits, and within IT infrastructure setups. Conduct utility locating to identify existing underground utilities before excavation or construction activities. Operate bucket trucks safely for elevated work while adhering to all safety protocols and NEC (National Electrical Code) standards. Use tools such as ohmmeters for testing electrical circuits and troubleshoot electrical issues efficiently. Engage in field service activities including troubleshooting outages, performing routine inspections, and restoring power swiftly. Assist with tree trimming around power lines to prevent outages and maintain system integrity. Participate in construction site activities ensuring compliance with safety standards and project specifications. Read blueprints accurately to guide installation or repair projects involving wiring, cabling, or equipment placement. Support industrial electricians with specialized electrical tasks related to large-scale infrastructure projects. Maintain detailed records of work performed, safety inspections, and equipment usage for compliance purposes. Experience Proven experience as a Journeyman Lineman or in a similar electrical field role involving high voltage systems. Demonstrated ability to rig heavy equipment safely for lifting or positioning materials on utility poles or construction sites. Extensive knowledge of NEC (National Electrical Code) regulations related to overhead and underground power systems. Skilled in climbing utility poles using appropriate safety gear and techniques; bucket operation experience is essential. Practical experience with welding for repairs or installation of electrical components when necessary. Familiarity with industrial electrician practices as well as commercial electrician standards for diverse project environments. Hands-on experience with cabling installation in various settings including utility infrastructure and IT networks. Ability to read blueprints accurately and interpret technical drawings for complex electrical systems. Experience working on construction sites with adherence to safety protocols; utility locating skills are highly valued.
