Position Summary:

The UG Operator is responsible for all duties associated with and related to the safe, efficient, and cost- effective operation of all UG Power Equipment including but not limited to Line Truck, Squirt Boom, Bucket Truck, Excavator and or backhoe experience preferred.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Must be proficient in operating excavator and or backhoe. Must be proficient in setting up and operating line truck, bucket truck, or back yard machines. Working knowledge of line work preferred. Perform general site preparation, restoration and right of way maintenance duties. Develop proficiency in safe operation of all equipment. Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on equipment. Run power tools. Perform hand digging. Transport equipment to and from job sites. Load and Unload Equipment. Maintain material inventory on truck. Active leadership skills as lead position while crew foreman is offsite. Working knowledge of underground utilities. Working knowledge of 811 Requirements and Procedures.

Requirements:

Job Requirements & Qualifications:

High school diploma (preferred). Knowledge of Utilities installation techniques and standards (preferred). Must have a valid Class A CDL License (required). Able to lift heavy objects, walk, and stand for long periods of time. Able to perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. Able to lift, push, pull, carry objects, and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue. Able to quickly move arms and legs and have excellent stamina.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift and carry heavy materials, tools, and equipment (up to 50 pounds or more). Must be able to traverse irregular and steep terrain. Endurance to perform physical tasks throughout the workday, including bending, stooping, kneeling, and standing for extended periods. Agility and flexibility to navigate construction sites and access work areas, including climbing ladders and scaffolding. Must be able to position one-self to work in confined spaces such as trenches, pits, manholes, and tunnels. Must be able to wear personal protective gear most of the day. Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions. Must have manual dexterity, a good sense of balance, and excellent hand-eye coordination.
