• Full-time Journeyman Class Overhead Distribution or 1st Class Overhead Distribution Lineman (Class A) Southern Power and Lighting About the Role Southern Power and Lighting is hiring a skilled Journeyman Class Overhead Distribution Lineman or Class A Overhead Distribution Lineman to support the construction, maintenance, and restoration of electrical distribution systems.

This role is ideal for an experienced professional who is comfortable working in dynamic environments, handling energized systems, and occasionally traveling out of town and on storm restoration as project demands require. What You'll Do In this role, you will take ownership of complex line work while supporting crew operations and maintaining a strong focus on safety: Execute overhead distribution work on both energized and de-energized systems Install, replace, and maintain system components including transformers, insulators, switches, and protective equipment Handle system outages by identifying faults, replacing fuses, and restoring service Perform pole setting, anchoring, and conductor installation Lead small crews or step in when the Foreman is unavailable Conduct job site safety briefings and ensure compliance with all safety procedures Read and interpret job prints, staking sheets, and work orders to plan tasks effectively Use industry tools and equipment such as but not limited to load break tools, phasing sticks, and mechanical jumpers Maintain and inspect PPE, rubber goods, and company equipment Work in elevated positions, confined spaces, and challenging outdoor environments Credentials & Requirements A minimum of (5) years of experience as a 1st Class (Class A) OH Lineman Valid driver's license with a clean driving record Must have a Valid Class A or B CDL.
