Job Description
C&T Enterprises, Inc. will receive letters of interest for the position of Journeyman Line Technician at Claverack Rural Electric Cooperative (REC).
Location:
The position will be located at Claverack REC's Montrose District in Montrose, PA.Reporting Structure:
The position will report to the Manager of Field Operations/Crew Chief at Claverack REC.Supervises:
Line Technicians and Apprentice Line Technicians (when assigned)Primary Responsibilities:
Safely perform, or direct the safe performance of, maintenance, operation, and construction work on distribution lines and apparatus in compliance with established safety procedures, applicable codes, company policies, plans, and objectives. Respond to trouble calls and restore service during outages. Perform work on energized lines using approved rubber gloving and hot-stick methods. Install and maintain Cooperative substation equipment. Maintain positive employee relations and promote goodwill between the Cooperative and its members.Qualifications and Skills:
To be successful in this role, the candidate should have the following qualifications and skills: High school diploma or G.E.D Two-year technical certificate (preferred) Practical working knowledge of the electric distribution system, including substations and all related equipment Demonstrated knowledge with electrical safety rules and policies, principles of supervision, and effective customer relations Demonstrated experience in electric distribution line work sufficient to meet the qualifications of a Journeyman Line Technician Familiarity with the regulations and standards of the following organizations: National Electrical Code (NEC) National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Practical working knowledge of all Rural Utilities Service (RUS) construction specifications, construction materials, devices, and machinery Strong commitment to safety, with comprehensive knowledge of and adherence to the Cooperative's Safety Rules, OSHA standards, and state vehicle codes to advise and direct employees as needed Mental capabilities, muscular coordination, and stamina to safely perform all phases of the job under all weather conditions Demonstrates personal skills and behaviors that promote effective teamwork, efficient work processes, and the ability to complete assigned tasks thoroughly Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively with members, contractors, utilities, local agencies, and the general public, including professionally addressing member questions and concerns Demonstrated leadership and the ability to instruct and develop good working relationships with fellow employees and personnel of other departmentsEthics:

As the Journeyman Line Technician, the candidate's responsibilities will include: Communicating and coordinating with employees to exchange information necessary for the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the Cooperative Being alert in the observation of hazards and prevention of accidents Performing maintenance and construction work on energized and de‑energized distribution lines and apparatus—both overhead and underground—in a safe and workmanlike manner, using required personal protective equipment in support of the Cooperative's electrical system Performing work on energized lines using approved rubber gloving and hot‑stick methods in accordance with the Cooperative's Safe Work Practices Maintaining working knowledge of all Cooperative safety rules, Rural Utilities Service (RUS) construction specifications, and applicable state vehicle codes to advise and direct employees as needed Providing supervision, training, support, and guidance to employees reporting to the position Operating trucks and associated hydraulic equipment, including buckets, diggers, and power and hand tools, as required Performing the duties of all job classifications below that of Journeyman Line Technician Maintaining familiarity with the Cooperative's distribution system and demonstrating the ability to read, interpret, and understand system maps to effectively operate the system and restore power during emergencies Troubleshooting and repairing all Cooperative primary and secondary lines during outages, including work performed during and after normal business hours Conducting tailboard safety meetings as required Performing voltage checks and installing voltage recorders as needed Participating in the rotating on‑call schedule to respond to after‑hours emergencies Completing day‑to‑day paperwork and timesheets in the absence of the Crew Chief Serving as acting Crew Chief in the Crew Chief's absence Performing other related work as assignedSpecial Working Conditions:
Must be able to work in all weather conditions, including nights and/or weekends, as required to respond to outages, emergencies, and scheduled after‑hours work Must maintain a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL), as well as current CPR and First Aid certifications Occasional overnight travel is required How toApply:
