Job Description
Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Utility Locator to join our field service team. This role involves identifying, marking, and mapping underground utilities to ensure safe and efficient construction and excavation projects. The ideal candidate will have experience in service technician roles, land surveying, or utility locating, with a strong understanding of construction site operations and blueprint reading. This position offers an opportunity to work on diverse projects, utilizing a variety of equipment and techniques to accurately locate underground utilities. Duties Locate and mark underground utilities using specialized equipment and techniques Interpret blueprints, maps, and construction plans to identify utility lines Operate field equipment such as backhoes, forklifts, and cabling tools as needed Conduct land surveying activities to verify utility locations and ensure accuracy Collaborate with construction teams to provide precise utility information before excavation or digging Maintain detailed records of utility locations and update maps accordingly Ensure safety protocols are followed during all field activities Assist with the setup and operation of excavation or trenching equipment when necessary Skills Proven experience as a service technician or in utility locating roles Knowledge of land surveying principles and practices Proficiency in reading blueprints and construction drawings Experience operating backhoes, forklifts, and cabling equipment in a construction environment Familiarity with underground utility systems and safety procedures Strong field service skills with the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions Ability to interpret technical documents and maps accurately Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail This position is integral to ensuring safe excavation practices by accurately locating underground utilities.
