Foreman Technician with Medium to High Voltage Experience

May be required to travel to Dallas area for one-week intervals.

  • 4:30 PM Subject to change A lineman installs, maintains, and repairs electrical power and telecommunications lines, ensuring safe and reliable delivery of electricity and communication services.
Overview Lineman, also known as electrical or power linemen, are skilled professionals responsible for the construction, maintenance, and repair of overhead and underground electrical power lines and telecommunications cables. They work in various environments, often outdoors, and must handle high-voltage electricity, climb poles or towers, and operate specialized equipment safely. Key Responsibilities
    Installation and Maintenance :
    Build, maintain, and repair electrical transmission and distribution lines, including poles, towers, transformers, circuit breakers, and switches.
      Inspection and Testing :
      Inspect power lines and auxiliary equipment, identify faults, and perform testing using specialized instruments.
        Emergency Response :
        Respond to outages, troubleshoot electrical issues, and restore power promptly.
          Safety Compliance :
          Follow strict safety protocols, use protective equipment, and adhere to industry regulations to prevent accidents.
            Vegetation Management :
            Trim trees and remove vegetation near power lines to prevent interference or damage.
              Documentation :
              Maintain accurate records of repairs, installations, and materials used.
                Telecommunications Work :
                Install and repair fiber optic, telephone, and other communication lines as needed. Types of Linemen
                  Distribution Linemen :
                  Work on lower-voltage lines in residential and commercial areas, often using bucket trucks to climb poles.
                    Transmission Linemen :
                    Handle high-voltage lines over long distances, working on large towers and poles.
                      Substation Linemen :
                      Maintain and repair electrical substations, including transformers and switches.
                        Journeyman Linemen :
                        Experienced linemen who have completed apprenticeships and may supervise others, handling complex installations and repairs. Required Skills and Qualifications
                        • Knowledge of electrical systems, power generation, transmission, and distribution methods.
                        • Ability to install, maintain, and repair electrical lines and related equipment.
                        • Physical fitness and comfort working at heights and in various weather conditions.
                        • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and teamwork skills.
                        • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a lineman apprenticeship or equivalent training is preferred.
                        • Valid driver's license or Commercial Driver's License (CDL A) may be required.
                        Work Environment Lineman work is physically demanding and often performed outdoors in harsh weather conditions. They may work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and during emergencies. Safety is a top priority due to the risks of electrocution, falls, and other injuries.
