Job Description
BODEC, Inc. is a leading construction firm specializing in EPC solutions for power infrastructure projects. From substations and switchyards to transmission and distribution systems, we deliver reliable, custom engineered solutions to utilities, heavy industrial, mining, and renewable energy clients throughout the western United States. We are seeking a Journeyman Lineman to join our growing field operations team based out of Price, Utah. This position is responsible for installing low-, medium-, and high-voltage electrical equipment and associated wiring systems for substations, switchyards, transmission, and distribution projects ranging from 4.16kV through 345kV. The ideal candidate is safety focused, technically skilled, committed to quality workmanship, and capable of mentoring Apprentices while maintaining BODEC's standards of professionalism and integrity.
Key Responsibilities:
Install low-, medium-, and high-voltage electrical equipment and associated wiring systems Construct, modify, maintain, and commission substations, switchyards, overhead transmission systems, and distribution infrastructure Install, terminate, test, and troubleshoot power, control, and communication wiring systems Perform work on electrical facilities and systems ranging from 4.16kV through 345kV Install transformers, breakers, disconnect switches, bus systems, grounding systems, control panels, relays, and other utility equipment Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, specifications, and construction documents Perform quality assurance inspections to ensure work meets project specifications, customer requirements, and company standards Coordinate with Project Supervisors, Project Managers, customers, and contractors to support successful project execution Maintain project schedules and communicate progress, challenges, and solutions effectively Participate in commissioning, testing, energization, and startup activities as required Operate company vehicles, equipment, and tools safely and efficiently Participate in job hazard analyses, safety meetings, and daily work planning activities Mentor, train, and supervise Apprentices and less experienced crew members Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas Represent BODEC professionally and uphold company values of safety, integrity, accountability, and excellence
What You Bring:
Journeyman Lineman Valid Class B CDL required; Class A CDL preferred. Minimum three years of experience performing transmission, distribution, substation, or utility line work. Experience working on substation, switchyard, transmission, and distribution projects preferred Experience installing equipment and wiring systems on electrical facilities ranging from 4.16kV through 345kV preferred Strong understanding of utility construction practices, electrical systems, and safe work procedures Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and construction drawings Demonstrated ability to mentor and supervise Apprentices Strong commitment to quality workmanship and attention to detail Excellent communication skills and ability to build positive working relationships with customers, contractors, and team members OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Transmission & Distribution certification preferred Pole Top Rescue and Bucket Truck Rescue certifications preferred Ability to travel up to 75% of the time throughout the western United States Ability to work overtime, weekends, and extended schedules as project demands require Ability to perform physical tasks including climbing structures, lifting over 75 pounds, working at heights, working outdoors in varying weather conditions, and accessing confined spaces when required
