Job Description

Job Title:
Field Technician IIIJob Description We are seeking a Field Technician III to support electrical testing, commissioning, and maintenance of high, medium, and low voltage equipment across utility, industrial, and renewable energy projects. This role is not an entry or mid-level position; candidates must have experience independently performing electrical testing and leading work in the field. The position will function as a crew lead on job sites, working on circuit breakers, transformers, switchgear, and related substation equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation of electrical systems. Responsibilities + Inspect, test, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical equipment. + Perform testing on breakers, transformers, grounding, and switchgear. + Read one-lines, schematics, and wiring diagrams. + Prepare detailed reports of testing and maintenance performed. + Lead crews and safety briefings. + Analyze testing results and troubleshoot issues. Essential Skills + 4-8+ years of hands-on electrical field testing experience. + Experience with electrical testing, switchgear, transformers, and circuit breakers. + Proficient in electrical troubleshooting and safety protocols such as LOTO and Arc flash. + Ability to interpret test results and read one-line diagrams and schematics. + Experience leading crews and field work. + NETA Certification or equivalent in high/medium voltage testing. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Backgrounds in military electrical or as NETA Techs at other competitors are beneficial. + Comfortable working on energized equipment environments. + Ability to travel regionally with 70%+ travel expected. + Strong safety mindset and the ability to coach others. + Certification required for higher-level roles. + Experience testing breakers, transformers, and switchgear. Work Environment This is a 100% travel-based role, with regional and project-based assignments. Per diem is provided for meals and lodging, and company laptop, phone, and expenses are covered. The typical schedule involves Monday-Friday travel, with occasional Sunday travel, and home on weekends when possible. Work involves a mix of outdoor substation tasks and industrial environments. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Albuquerque, NM. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $65.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
