Job Description SummaryThe Senior Wind Hub Technician position requires local travel within the hub. The Senior Wind Hub Technician is a critical and active role to maintain optimal function and output at the wind site by working daily on turbine operations, safety, quality control and warranty repair(s). The Senior Wind Hub Technician partners and communicates with the Site Lead and Manager to execute on contract requirements and timelines and ensures alignment with GE excellence!
Job DescriptionEssential ResponsibilitiesAs the Senior Wind Hub Technician you will:
Work with site/hub leadership to execute contractual obligations per customer requirements and activities set forth with on a daily basis, which include any portion of the electrical and mechanical equipment used in the GE wind turbine generator;Apply extensive understanding of variable pitch & speed turbines and converter parts;Read, understand and explain schematics, drawings, technical manuals, procedures, and regulations.
Adhere to all Environmental Health and Safety processes and regulations and all applicable compliance requirements;Troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on variable pitch & variable speed turbines;Help in all areas of site operations as directed by manager with minimal supervision, observing all safety requirements;Effectively perform diagnostic analysis and generate plan for timely resolution and;Document all work performed using computer-based service reporting procedures andWork with and respond to GE's remote operations center when necessary.
Help in all areas of site operations as directed by manager, and mentor peers;Qualifications/RequirementsHigh School Diploma or GED, andAbility to pass Technical Knowledge Assessment, andMinimum of 4 years of wind trouble-shooting experience, and at least1 year EHS, SQC, Lead role, orMinimum of 6 years of wind trouble-shooting experience, orMinimum of 3 years of wind trouble-shooting experience AND Bachelor's Degree in relevant field.
Eligibility RequirementsPassing a Technical Knowledge AssessmentBasic computer skillsMust have and maintain a valid driver's licenseWillingness to travel up to 100% of the timeHandle repetitive weight - 50 lbs. and climb towers up to 300 feet dailyMeet and maintain specified manufacturer weight limits not to exceed 300lbs including required gearAbility and willingness to work in range of environments to include but not limited to industrial facilities, manufacturing facilities, and power industry facilitiesEffectively prioritize work according to contract obligationsAbility and willingness to take initiative, and work without direct supervisionFlexibility to work rotating shift schedules, and on-call per site needs.
Occasional overnights may be required per hub needs.
Desired CharacteristicsAssociate or bachelor's Degree in a Technical, Electrical, or Electronics field from an accredited college or universityTechnical Certification in Wind Energy or Electrical / Electronic fieldAbility to work with a wide variety of personnel at all levels inside and outside of the Wind FarmWind turbine experienceAbility and willingness to take initiative, and work without direct supervisionElectrical, mechanical, and/or hydraulic experienceExperience using hydraulic power toolsExperience with heavy equipment required for facility maintenance with a working knowledge of crane and rigging requirements Please note: This is not a remote position. You are expected to work at all sites within this Hub and report to work at any site within this Hub as assigned by your manager.
