Position Summary This position keeps the district's buildings and grounds in such a state of operating excellence as to present no problems or interruptions to the educational program. This position has responsibility for routine care of the grounds (snow removal, grass cutting, tree and shrub pruning, leaf collection and disposal). The position performs general maintenance tasks inside and outside the buildings. This position also supports the custodial operations within the MPSD facilities when necessary. All assigned duties are completed under the supervision of the Director of Building and Grounds. Essential Job Functions Perform general building maintenance requiring some degree of skill and ability in handling common tools and equipment for the performance of the assigned repairs. Perform site maintenance duties, including, but not limited to the following: lawn mowing, trimming, raking leaves, planting and/or trimming shrubs and trees, snow removal, and preparation of athletic fields Perform custodial support as assigned for building operations throughout the MPSD facilities. Maintains and keeps current on all assigned employee safety training requirements and complies with State, local, and Board of Education guidelines. Manages work orders assigned within the District Performs all other duties as assigned. The employee frequently must squat, stoop or kneel, reach above the head and reach forward. The employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp tools and climbs on to ladders. The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk more than the average person while performing the duties of this job. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds such as maintenance landscaping supplies, bags of snow/ice melt, custodial supplies and unloading trucks. Occasionally the employee will lift and/or move up to 90 pounds such as salt and bulk furniture. The employee will sometimes push/pull items such as tables, bleachers, scrubbing machines. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Qualifications Experience in working in a fast-paced environment and general knowledge of maintenance equipment use High school diploma or equivalent Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Valid driver's license with good driving record. Ability to obtain and maintain WI-Dept of Trade and Consumer Protection certifications of pesticide and herbicide applicator (MPSD will provide and cover costs associated with this training and recertification).
