Maintenance and Calibration Manager Summary of role The Maintenance and Calibration Manager is accountable for driving results in a fast-paced environment by managing, leading, and coordinating the activities of personnel within the department. Direct reporting responsibilities include management of the maintenance, facilities administrative, and metrology teams. This role will help drive safety performance, compliance to standards, departmental training, and cGMP compliance within the team. The position requires superior leadership skills as well as demonstration of the Sterling core values and non-negotiables. Essential Functions Manages a team responsible for the day-to-day activities of the site, which include all work orders, PMs, calibrations, inspections, contracted outside services and facility related emergencies. Develops resource plans that safely meet operational goals associated with these activities in accordance with SOPs, cGMPs and industry expectations. Responsible for the site CMMS systems, parts management system, and other facilities related programs. Uses these systems to identify gaps in the maintenance program to increase uptime of equipment. Conduct audits and set KPI performance indicators for maintenance, facilities and calibration teams based on Sterling values. Key contributor to mechanical integrity program improvements, process safety management optimization, and other critical safety programs (ex: PTW, Change Control, LOTO, Confined Space, Hot work, etc). Manages and maintains electrical/mechanical equipment in accordance with Hazardous Area guidelines. Other functions indirectly or directly managed include: Janitorial, uniform service, mechanical, security services, grounds keeping, fire systems, carpentry, electrical, piping, painting and office services. Member of the site management team, site safety steering committee, and other project teams and initiatives. Provides troubleshooting support as needed within a 24/7 operating environment. Ensures timely completion and compliance with cGMP and all other relevant company training requirements. Attracts, develops, and retains a high performing team to meet the current and evolving needs of the business through effective selection, training and development, coaching and mentoring and performance management. Key competencies Ability to perform complex math functions, compute ratios, rates, and percentages. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where limited standardization exists. Ability to work with people at all levels of the organization as well as coach and develop employees in or outside of department. Candidates need to be competent with IT systems, CMMS Systems, CAD systems, and Microsoft Office including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Excel. Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 5+ years of applicable experience, preferably including a minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience, OR equivalent experience within a facilities and maintenance team in a pharmaceutical/chemical environment. Travel Requirement Up to 10% travel required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
