Job Description

The Jasper R-5 School District is seeking a maintenance director. Position is 4 days per week and includes paid health insurance, public employee retirement benefits, paid time off, and paid holidays. Qualifications:
Possess a working knowledge of basic building systems, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and other mechanical systems as may be present. Possess a working knowledge of basic preventative maintenance procedures and practices. Maintain a current working knowledge of all safety standards, laws, codes, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures relating to school facilities. Possess and maintain and the ability to establish cooperative relationships with school district personnel students, parents, contractors, and vendors. Possess the ability to communicate effectively and manage personnel under position's direct supervision in a way that is fair and maintains high expectations of performance and behavior. Possess a Commercial Driver's License with school bus endorsement. Minimum three years experience in a related field.
Essential Functions:
Regularly troubleshoot and maintain the good condition of the district's buildings, facilities, equipment, and grounds. Develop job routines and work schedules using the online work request referral system for maintenance personnel. Post progress/timelines for completion/completion dates in the online work request referral system. Prepare specifications, bids, and orders for materials and supplies required for maintenance projects. Prepare long and short term schedules for major maintenance and/or safety projects. Coordinate emergency procedures with the director of safety and district administrators affecting buildings and grounds, including cold weather temperature control and snow/ice removal. Assist in the development of bids and scope work for outside contractors and vendors. Inspect all school buildings, grounds, and facilities on a regular basis to determine that high standards of workmanship, safety and security are maintained. Identify concerns, then develop and follow through on plans to correct as approved by district administration. Ensure that the district remains in compliance with OSHA, MUSIC, DNR, and other safety/security requirements. Assist in the setting up and tearing down of facilities for meetings and events held in school facilities. Supervise reception and distribution of department supplies, tools, materials and other equipment. Establish inventory control and appropriate security system to safeguard items. Ensure that all maintenance and custodial staff are properly trained in the use of equipment and supplies. Respond to the immediate needs of building/district administrators. Continually seek and share ideas to improve the safety and efficiency of district facilities and operations. Maintain files and other records for the department as may be required. Such other responsibilities and duties as set forth by the school district board and administration.
