Job Title:
Maintenance Electrician Job Description The Maintenance Electrician will troubleshoot and repair production machinery and control systems in an industrial manufacturing environment. This role focuses on diagnosing issues with PLCs, electrical systems, and mechanical equipment, while also performing preventative maintenance and participating in mechanical projects to keep production lines running safely and efficiently. Responsibilities Troubleshoot and repair production machinery, including production lines, PLC controls, drives, gauges, and test equipment. Diagnose and resolve issues with PLCs, including reading and interpreting ladder logic to identify faults. Work with electrical systems ranging from 24V controls up to 480V three-phase motors, ensuring safe and proper operation. Perform mechanical maintenance and repairs on equipment, including motors, pumps, hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Rebuild, troubleshoot, and repair pumps to maintain reliable operation. Carry out preventative maintenance activities, including inspections, lubrication, adjustments, and component replacements to minimize unplanned downtime. Support and execute mechanical projects when not actively troubleshooting equipment. Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and technical documentation to guide troubleshooting and repair activities. Collaborate closely with engineering personnel to resolve complex electrical and mechanical issues and support continuous improvement efforts. Document maintenance work performed and communicate equipment status and repair needs to relevant team members. Follow all safety procedures and best practices when working with electrical and mechanical systems. Essential Skills 1-3 years of experience as an industrial maintenance electrician. Proficiency in troubleshooting PLCs in a production environment. Ability to read and interpret ladder logic for troubleshooting and repair. Hands-on experience working with electrical systems from 24V up to 480V three-phase motors. Mechanical maintenance experience, including at least 3 years of mechanical repair and troubleshooting. Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for both electrical and mechanical equipment. Ability to perform preventative maintenance, machine repair, and general troubleshooting safely and efficiently. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working on production lines, drives, gauges, and test equipment. Experience collaborating with engineering teams or technical staff on equipment improvements. Comfort working in an industrial manufacturing environment with fiberglass-based materials and resins. Work Environment This role is based at an approximately 35-person industrial manufacturing site that produces raw fiberglass-based material for other facilities. While you will not directly handle fiberglass, you will work around it and may notice a slight resin smell in the facility. The environment is generally clean with moderate temperatures, and there are plans to install air conditioning by next summer. The position is on third shift, currently operating on a 4-day workweek with 12-hour shifts, transitioning to 4-day workweeks with 10-hour shifts in the near future. Shift times are 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Overtime may occur on a fifth day or weekends when required, although this is not frequent at this time. Training may take place on first or third shift depending on candidate needs . You will work around industrial electrical and mechanical equipment, PLCs, motors, pumps, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, following appropriate safety procedures and wearing suitable personal protective equipment as required. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Grabill, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $31.00/hr.
