Maintenance Engineer

We are looking for ambitious candidates who are excited by the opportunity to be a part of a new team to develop a cutting manufacturing facility for high performance lithium-ion batteries.

Key Responsibilities:

Equipment Installation and Commissioning Support installation, startup, and commissioning of semi-automated pouch cell and module manufacturing equipment. Work with vendors and automation engineers to integrate new equipment into the production line. Participate in factory acceptance tests (FAT) and site acceptance tests (SAT) for critical new machinery. Preventive and Predictive Maintenance Develop and implement preventive maintenance (PM) and predictive maintenance (PdM) programs for key cell and module equipment. Utilize condition monitoring, vibration analysis, and thermography to identify early signs of equipment failure. Troubleshooting and Repairs Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and automation issues in PLC and PC controlled manufacturing systems. Work closely with automation engineers to troubleshoot issues related to SCADA, HMI, sensors, actuators, and robotic systems. Maintain spare parts inventory and ensure availability of critical components. Process and Equipment Optimization Identify opportunities for improving equipment efficiency, reliability, and cycle times. Collaborate with process engineers to optimize machine parameters, reduce downtime, and enhance production yield. Implement Industry 4.0 maintenance strategies, including IoT-based condition monitoring. Safety and Compliance Ensure all maintenance activities adhere to safety protocols, OSHA standards, and industry best practices. Conduct risk assessments, implement and maintain machine guarding, interlocks, and emergency stop systems. Maintain detailed maintenance logs and compliance documentation for audits.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

Technical Skills and Knowledge Strong knowledge of electromechanical systems, PLCs, robotics, and automation equipment. Hands-on experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, motion control, and industrial sensors. Familiarity with high-voltage safety and electrical systems for lithium-ion battery production. Experience with thermal management systems, vacuum pumps, and ultrasonic and laser welding equipment. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and P&IDs. Knowledge of CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) and predictive maintenance tools. Familiarity with design requirements for building systems managing power, lighting, fire safety, and communications. Experience with PLCs . Soft Skills and Experience Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in maintenance roles within battery, electronics, or automotive manufacturing. Strong problem-solving skills with a hands-on, proactive approach to root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective action implementation. Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment and handle multiple maintenance tasks effectively. Good communication skills to collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams. Preferred Experience Maintenance experience in lithium-ion battery manufacturing, electronics assembly, semiconductor production, or similar industry. Familiarity with Industry 4.0 predictive maintenance strategies and IoT-enabled monitoring systems. Experience with FAT, SAT, and commissioning of automated production lines. Exposure to ISO 9001 and UL2580 compliance requirements. Knowledge of automated material handling systems and cleanroom maintenance procedures.
