Job Description
Maintenance & Grounds Technician - Howe Farms Position Summary The Maintenance & Grounds Technician at Howe Farms plays a vital role in preserving the beauty, functionality, and overall guest experience of our venues. This position is responsible for maintaining pristine grounds, ensuring facilities are event-ready, and supporting the seamless execution of weddings and events. The ideal candidate takes pride in detail, understands the importance of presentation, and works proactively to uphold the elevated standards of the Howe Farms brand. Key Responsibilities Grounds & Property Presentation Maintain all landscaping across Howe Farms properties, including mowing, edging, trimming, pruning, and seasonal planting Ensure all ceremony sites, reception spaces, pathways, and common areas are clean, polished, and photo-ready at all times Blow off patios, walkways, and ceremony sites prior to weddings and events Monitor and maintain irrigation systems to keep grounds lush and healthy Perform seasonal property enhancements, including mulching, leaf removal, flower rotations, and storm cleanup Facility Maintenance Conduct routine inspections of all venues, buildings, and infrastructure Perform minor repairs including basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and general upkeep Replace HVAC air filters on a regular maintenance schedule Change batteries in electronic door/code locks and smoke detectors to ensure proper functionality and safety compliance Change oil and perform basic maintenance on farm vehicles, mowers, and equipment Maintain and clean 7 tour vehicles and vintage cars, ensuring they are presentation-ready at all times Ensure lighting, HVAC systems, restrooms, and guest-facing spaces are fully functional and well-maintained Respond quickly and efficiently to maintenance needs, especially those impacting events Equipment & Work Area Management Maintain all maintenance tools, equipment, and machinery in proper working condition Keep maintenance areas, workshops, and storage spaces clean, organized, and well-stocked Track and report equipment issues, needed repairs, or supply shortages Event Support Set up wedding floor plans according to diagrams, including tables, chairs, and layout details Set and arrange outdoor ceremony chairs with precision and consistency Prepare and execute wedding add-ons, including vehicles, cold sparks, fireworks, and other specialty elements Assist with event setup and breakdown, including moving furniture, décor items, and equipment Ensure all spaces are fully prepared prior to guest arrival and restored promptly after events Be available during events as needed to address any maintenance or grounds-related issues discreetly and efficiently Safety & Standards Maintain a safe environment for guests and staff by identifying and addressing potential hazards Follow all safety procedures and company standards, especially when handling event equipment such as cold sparks and fireworks Properly maintain and store tools, equipment, and maintenance areas Qualifications Previous experience in maintenance, landscaping, or property care preferred Working knowledge of basic repair skills (plumbing, electrical, carpentry) Ability to operate landscaping and maintenance equipment safely Experience or willingness to learn operation of specialty event equipment (e.g., cold sparks, fireworks) Strong attention to detail with a commitment to high presentation standards Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, event-driven environment Physical Requirements Ability to lift 50+ pounds regularly Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical labor for extended periods Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Schedule & Work Environment Full-time position with seasonal fluctuations in workload Must be available for weekends, evenings, and some holidays based on event schedules Combination of outdoor grounds work and indoor maintenance tasks Howe Farms Expectations Maintain a polished, professional appearance consistent with the Howe Farms brand Take ownership and pride in the property's appearance and guest experience Anticipate needs and proactively address issues before they arise Work collaboratively with the events, planning, and sales teams to ensure seamless event execution
