Job Title:
Maintenance Mechanic Job Description This role focuses on safely troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining production equipment to support high run-time efficiency and overall plant uptime. You will perform predictive and preventive maintenance on electrical and mechanical systems, support process improvements, and serve as a technical resource for operations and plant leadership. The position requires strong hands-on skills, a commitment to safety, and the ability to document work accurately and clearly. Responsibilities Perform all tasks in a safe manner and strictly comply with lockout/tagout (LO/TO) policies at all times. Troubleshoot and repair problems with production equipment, ensuring minimal downtime and stable operation. Continuously monitor electrical and mechanical devices as part of a predictive and preventive maintenance plan. Locate electrical issues using tools such as multimeters and amp meters, and repair or replace defective electrical components. Assist in contacting vendors for technical support and parts related to equipment issues. Review work orders as they are received, seek clarification when needed, and confer with the requestor to fully understand job requirements. Originate and process emergency work orders when urgent issues arise. Order parts required for repair and maintenance in coordination with the maintenance engineering team. Perform daily preventive maintenance tasks to keep equipment in optimal condition. Act as a group leader during preventive maintenance shutdowns, coordinating tasks and supporting team members. Document all modifications made to equipment during repairs, including updating schematics, drawings, and related technical documentation. Perform work related to the servicing of pumps, boilers, piping, and associated equipment. Recommend maintenance activities and items to be included in scheduled preventive maintenance shutdowns. Assist in writing and updating standard maintenance procedures to improve consistency and quality of work. Stay informed of process changes that may affect the normal operation of equipment and adjust maintenance practices accordingly. Perform small installations and equipment modification projects to support process improvements and new equipment integration. Record all measurements taken during predictive and preventive maintenance activities and use them to generate statistical charts for analysis. Provide training to operations technicians in maintenance activities aligned with Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) practices. Maintain a strong team-focused attitude, proactively learn new equipment, and assist in training other technicians. Adhere to all departmental rules, regulations, and procedures, and promote a culture of compliance and accountability. Serve as a resource to production technicians and plant leadership in resolving equipment-related customer complaints. Fulfill tasks outlined in daily task lists and ensure timely completion of assigned work. Serve as a member of the Emergency Response team and participate in required training, including Emergency Response, First Aid/CPR/BBP, and fire extinguisher use. Essential Skills Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting mechanical and electrical problems on production machinery. Strong experience in preventive and predictive maintenance practices for industrial equipment. Hands-on experience with pneumatics, hydraulics, and mechanical devices. Working knowledge of basic electrical principles and the ability to apply them in a maintenance environment. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings. Proficiency using diagnostic tools such as multimeters and amp meters to locate electrical issues. Experience servicing pumps, boilers, piping, and related equipment. Capability to document equipment modifications and update schematics and drawings accurately. Ability to collect and record measurements for predictive and preventive maintenance and use them for statistical analysis. Willingness and ability to serve on an Emergency Response team, including completing required safety and first aid training. Strong communication skills to collaborate with maintenance engineering, production technicians, and plant leadership. Commitment to safety and strict adherence to lockout/tagout (LO/TO) policies and departmental procedures. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience leading teams or acting as a group leader during preventive maintenance shutdowns. Familiarity with Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) practices and training others in TPM-related activities. Experience writing and updating standard maintenance procedures. Experience in small equipment installations and modification projects. Ability to assist in vendor coordination for equipment support and parts procurement. Training or certification in Emergency Response, First Aid/CPR/BBP, and fire extinguisher use (or willingness to obtain). Strong organizational skills to manage daily task lists and multiple work orders effectively. Work Environment This role is based in a production facility with a strong focus on safety, reliability, and equipment uptime. You will work with mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems, including pumps, boilers, piping, and related industrial equipment. Diagnostic tools such as multimeters and amp meters, along with technical schematics and blueprints, are used daily. The position operates on structured shifts: a day shift from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and a night shift from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. on a 5-2-2-5 schedule. The environment requires adherence to departmental rules, procedures, and safety protocols, including lockout/tagout and participation in emergency response activities. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Benson, NC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $54080.00 - $66560.00/yr.Retirement:
