Job Title:
Maintenance Mechanic Job Description The Maintenance Mechanic installs, maintains, and repairs industrial production equipment in a cold food and beverage manufacturing environment. This role focuses on troubleshooting and repairing conveyors, packaging lines, HVAC systems, mixers, blenders, pumps, fillers, and related equipment, while also performing building and facility maintenance. The position follows a 4-day workweek with 12-hour shifts and requires flexibility to work nights, days, and weekends as needed. Responsibilities Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues on production equipment, including conveyors, packaging lines, mixers, blenders, pumps, fillers, and HVAC systems. Perform routine and preventive maintenance to minimize equipment downtime and maintain consistent, high-quality, and safe food and beverage production. Inspect equipment regularly to identify potential failures and take corrective action before breakdowns occur. Work with PLC-controlled systems to troubleshoot equipment performance and resolve basic control-related issues. Configure, adjust, and maintain variable frequency drives (VFDs) to ensure proper motor and equipment operation. Support improvement projects aimed at increasing equipment reliability, efficiency, and safety. Perform building and facility maintenance tasks as needed to keep the plant and supporting systems in good working order. Document all maintenance activities, including downtime events, parts used, repairs performed, and preventive maintenance tasks, in daily logs or maintenance systems. Collaborate with production and quality teams to support continuous operation and ensure equipment supports food safety and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Follow all safety procedures, lockout/tagout practices, and GMP requirements while working on equipment in a cold production environment. Respond to equipment breakdowns in a timely manner to reduce production interruptions, including during nights and weekends. Assist with installation, setup, and commissioning of new equipment and machinery as operations expand or processes change. Essential Skills 3-5 years of experience as a maintenance mechanic or maintenance technician in a food and beverage manufacturing environment. Proven experience troubleshooting and repairing food and beverage production equipment. Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience in mechanical repair and assembly. Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics in an industrial setting. Ability to perform preventive maintenance on a variety of industrial equipment. Experience working with electrical systems related to industrial machinery. Ability to troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment at a basic to intermediate level. Proficiency working with and maintaining variable frequency drives (VFDs). Ability to work 12-hour shifts on a 4-day schedule, including nights, days, weekends, and other shifts as needed. Comfort working in a cold production environment and following GMP requirements. Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to quickly identify root causes of equipment issues. Ability to maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, downtime, and parts usage. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with high-pressure pasteurizers is a plus. Welding skills are highly desirable. Experience in food production or beverage processing environments. Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in a food facility. Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team. Strong communication skills to coordinate with production, quality, and operations personnel. Work Environment This role is based in a high-end juice production facility that operates under strict Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). The production area is cold, maintained at approximately 36 degrees, and the work involves spending significant time in this environment around running machinery and processing equipment. The plant uses industrial equipment such as conveyors, mixers, blenders, pumps, fillers, HVAC systems, and high-speed packaging lines, along with PLC-controlled systems and VFDs. Shifts follow a 4-day workweek with 12-hour schedules, including a mix of night and day shifts and weekend coverage. The facility is part of a rapidly expanding operation with additional brick-and-mortar locations and growing distribution, offering a dynamic and fast-paced atmosphere. Appropriate cold-environment and GMP-compliant attire is required at all times on the production floor. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Dinuba, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $36.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
