Job Description

Maintenance Technician ACES Transportation Facilities ACES is seeking a dependable, skilled, and motivated Maintenance Technician to join our team. This hands-on position is ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems, working with a variety of systems and equipment, and helping maintain safe and efficient facilities and grounds. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the general maintenance and repair of ACES facilities, equipment, and property as assigned by the Unit Manager or Assistant Manager. Duties include preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of mechanical systems, plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, refrigeration support, grounds maintenance, and other operational responsibilities that help keep ACES running smoothly. What You'll Do Perform general maintenance and repair work on buildings, machinery, and mechanical equipment Complete preventative maintenance inspections and testing to ensure safe, reliable operation of equipment and facilities Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using testing equipment, observations, and repair reports Install, inspect, repair, and replace plumbing systems, fixtures, pipes, and fittings Inspect, repair, install, and test electrical circuits, equipment, and appliances Construct, repair, and maintain wooden and masonry structures, furniture, partitions, and building components Assist with the maintenance and repair of refrigeration systems, air conditioners, and air-handling units Support landscaping, grounds maintenance, garbage pickup/transport, and snow removal as needed Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas, shops, and storage spaces Complete required reports, work orders, and maintenance documentation Report major equipment or facility issues to Transportation Facilities Managers or University Police when necessary Assist in supervising and guiding others performing maintenance or minor repair work when assigned Follow all safety procedures and properly use tools, equipment, protective gear, and facility keys Attend training sessions as needed to stay current with technology and safety practices Provide support in any maintenance area as directed by Transportation Facilities Managers What We're Looking For Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English General knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and carpentry work Ability to measure, calculate, and estimate materials needed for repairs and projects Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Ability to lift up to 75 pounds Valid New York State driver license required Valid NYS CDL preferred, but not required Why Join ACES?
