Job Description

As a Maintenance Supervisor , you'll be an essential part of our mission to Better Days by caring for the team, systems, and equipment that keep our production, packaging, and roasting operations running. Through your work in preventative, corrective, and predictive maintenance, you'll lead our Maintenance program and create a safe, reliable environment where every team member can do their best work. This role is an on-site position based at our Roasting Plant in Oakland, CA. The shift is Monday through Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Maintenance & Sanitation Ensure all plant equipment is functioning by performing all preventive and corrective maintenance actions and record data into CMMS system (issue, resolution, parts used, labor) Establish technical standards for mechanical and electrical systems, components, and spare parts Determine, source, and purchase parts, supplies, and materials as required Track spending of all parts in CMMS / Google Sheet Collaborate with the Plant Manager to scope, design, and implement capital projects Assist in the installation and commissioning of new equipment or upgrades Keep CMMS up to date for parts inventory, daily work order reviews and addition of equipment Maintain tool control inventory sheet Investigate, troubleshoot, and implement maintenance services for new issues as they arise Conduct audits and repair facilities related items, doors, dock levelers, lights, ballasts, sinks, drains, and general grounds maintenance Develops knowledge and familiarity with mechanical / electrical drawings for equipment and plant infrastructure Conduct yearly review of all manuals of current machines to ensure all equipment has appropriate preventative maintenance work orders assigned on the correct frequency for our business Manage and track completion of daily, weekly, and monthly Sanitation checklists through oversight of Industrial Cleaners Manage scheduling of all service provided by 3rd parties (certifications, calibrations, special maintenance etc) Partner and communicate with OEM service providers directly to troubleshoot more complex issues Other duties that may be assigned by the Plant Manager Team Supervision Responsible for interviewing, coaching, developing, training, team communication, and supervising all performance for the team Review payroll system/wage and hour on a daily basis to include time punches, resolve discrepancies, and approve payroll and time off requests for your assigned team members to ensure accuracy and legal compliance Manage team schedules to ensure appropriate coverage for Roasting Plant needs Compliance and Safety Follow Safety / OSHA processes, procedures and regulations Complete monthly safety inspection checklist Follow and enforce all safety procedures and food safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, GMP, HACCP, SQF) Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment Lead continuous improvement and 5S projects related to equipment reliability Contribute to a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a professional manner with customers, suppliers, and co-workers.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
Minimum 3 years in Coffee manufacturing or 5 years of hands-on experience in food manufacturing maintenance / maintenance management or related roles. 3 years of experience in a Supervisory role. Excellent understanding and hands on experience with mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, control system (PLC) disciplines. Excellent knowledge of and experience with CMMS Systems . Excellent understanding of preventive, corrective and predictive maintenance programs. Experience building relationships with and managing vendors, contractors and suppliers. Strong initiative, forward thinking and ability to provide long term solutions to issues that arise. Strong organizational, time management, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills. Excellent computer skills, MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel required. Ability to travel to training and professional development courses as required. Must be team oriented, possess a strong work ethic, and maintain composure. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Read, write and speak English. •Compensation & Benefits A reasonable estimate of the hourly rate for this role is $42 to $50. Please note that the base pay will vary based on qualifications, previous experience, and work location.
