The maintenance mechanic ensures that production equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably by performing repairs, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement activities while supporting a clean and compliant manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Respond promptly to maintenance requests and perform routine maintenance to ensure production equipment consistently meets production goals. Conduct equipment changeovers and start-ups in a minimal amount of time to meet or exceed production standards. Test equipment after repairs, changeovers, or extended downtime to verify that it operates reliably at start-up with minimal downtime. Respond to all internal customer requests, especially from production, with a strong sense of urgency and service. Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) tasks on time to prevent unplanned equipment failures and downtime. Follow through on findings from PM tasks and line inspections to drive continuous improvement in equipment reliability. Contribute knowledge gained from PM activities to the PM planning process to enhance equipment uptime and efficiency. Adapt to changes in schedules, material availability, and line operations while ensuring that preventive maintenance is still completed. Work to improve equipment design and configuration to maximize throughput and reduce non-value-added labor. Administer the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) by accurately entering completed work orders. Sign parts out to work orders and ensure accurate tracking of parts usage within the CMMS. Order, restock, and sign parts into the CMMS to maintain accurate inventory records and parts availability. Perform other CMMS-related duties as assigned to support reliable maintenance documentation and planning. Maintain safety, cleanliness, and organization in equipment and maintenance areas at all times. Administer and follow lock-out tag-out (LOTO) procedures and comply with current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) rules. Identify potential safety issues and take action to correct them to protect all employees in the facility. Keep workspaces clean, orderly, and compliant with safety and quality standards. Essential Skills Previous industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing or similar environment. Ability to perform mechanical maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting on production equipment. Experience with conveyor systems and heavy equipment maintenance. Proficiency in preventive and corrective maintenance practices, including scheduling and execution of PM tasks. Working knowledge of mechanical systems, including hydraulics. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings. Basic electrical troubleshooting skills and familiarity with electrical schematics. Experience working in a cGMP-regulated environment or similar quality-focused setting. Competence using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to manage work orders and parts. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think independently and "outside the box" when resources are limited. Self-sufficient work style with the ability to manage tasks and priorities with minimal supervision. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience as a maintenance mechanic or maintenance technician in a production or industrial setting. Familiarity with lock-out tag-out (LOTO) procedures and safety protocols. Comfort working with equipment that handles consumer products, including exposure to strong fragrances and odors. Ability to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment design and throughput. Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with production and other internal customers. Why Work Here? You will work in a clean, professionally run manufacturing environment that values safety, quality, and continuous improvement. The organization provides hands-on training to help you build your technical skills and offers opportunities for both financial and personal growth. You will be part of a diverse workforce where different backgrounds and perspectives are welcomed and respected, creating a collaborative and inclusive culture.
